Hi all...I had a disastrous week. Sick and didn't sleep for 5 straight days - couldn't breathe.

SW  280 lbs

LW 266.2 lbs

CW 270.4 lbs

Goal this week - get back to 266.2.

Welcome to all the new faces. I am looking forward to getting to know you better in the coming weeks and months.

Here are my results. Not a huge drop but I slightly exceeded my goal of losing two pounds.

SW 280.0

LW 268.8

CW 266.2

Next weeks goal 264.2 (for a total of 15+lbs lost)

gddrdld...People like me aren't looking for thousands of recipies - How would we know what tastes good?. We just need a few suggestions to get the ball rolling.

Take one meal - the earlier in the day the better. Commit to eating a well proportioned meal you like. And whatever happens the rest of the day so be it - NO PRESSURE. Then take 1 small exercise component - like climbing the stairs instead of taking an elevator or getting off the bus 1 stop earlier. Commit to it. And whatever happens the rest of the day so be it - NO PRESSURE.

I'll go one step further. I am having a HECK of a time exercising right now. It is as much an emotional battle as a physical battle. I used to run 45mins - 75mins 4x a week and now I can't even go for a walk. My goal this week was to walk 15 mins each day. I blew it yesterday. TODAY I will commit to you that I will do it. 

Look at what I have suggested or come up with your own measure for success on a really tough day - like today - whatever you choose will be enough.

We're in this together and you have more than just me supporting you. Look at this amazing group of women you are working with. You can do it! Maybe it won't be a hundred percent effort today - everyday can't be - but anything above 0 on a day like today is good enough for me & hopefully it will be for you at days end!

Posting late as well. I weigh in on Sunday. This was my first week trying to drop some pounds so a big chunk of this is water.

Height 5' 7.5

SW/LW 180 lbs

CW 172.8 lbs

NW GOAL 170 lbs plus (1) triple my potassium intake and (2) get outside for a short walk (in the bitter cold)

Have you ever seen what a pound of fact looks like... I saw one once and it was much bigger than I thought especially when you think about minusing it from your body. A pound is still a big step in the right direction. Try to find a way to be really positive about this accomplishment. Look back on your logs and remember all the great nutrition you gave your body; who knows, maybe you even added some lean muscle mass by eating better, and muscle increases your metabolism.

You are doing GREAT!

I applaud you for taking this step as a young person. You can do it. I would encourage you to use the "my journal" tool on CC as it may help you realize the emotional connection to your eating and that will help you keep the weight off once you get where you are going. There is a recommendation in the tool for how to make it entirely private which may suit your needs best.

If you still find you are struggling with yoyo-ing, pick up a book on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. It helps you connect physical behaviours/sensations and emotions with your thoughts. AND if you can change your thoughts, you can change your behavour. It has taken me 42 years to get to the heart of my eating issues. I was slim for most of my life until some injuries turned my life upside down but I have realized that the way I maintained my weight before was as unhealthy as overeating... I exercised excessively and often skipped meals. I know now I need balance and I have to stay in tune to my body and my emotions. That allows me to make better decisions and keep a more positive mental outlook. I say all this to hopefully save you the couple of decades of struggle that I and many others have endured. 

I would also invite you to check out the "weigh in" subgroup of the losing 100lbs+ group. It may help keep you on track to document your accomplishments and struggles as you go. I am sure you will get a lot of support from others who weigh in.

Also, my ultimate dream vacation is to go to a working ranch in Montana or Colorado when my 2 year old is old enough to enjoy a little horseback riding; hopefully by then I'll be down to my starting goal weight if not my final goal weight. My husband grew up on a horse farm and I am a beginner rider. So...If where you end up working is the type of farm that has visitors from time to time, and you like it there, please let me know. Hiking and riding and being among farm animals in a rural setting sounds like heaven to me right now.

I am new to CC - two days. Your honesty and frankness is really inspiring and I know I will benefit from some mutual support over the next couple of years so here goes...

Build - Upper body small, Lower body medium

CW 280

GW 160 to start
