I used to have a problem eating eggs on an empty stomach. Therefore usually in the morning just like you describe. However any other meal of the day not a problem... However the egg sandwichs from Panera do not give me a problem..So maybe it is eggs fried in butter; the butter on an empty stomach is the problem? |

| Foods | Should I count vegetables? | Feb 12 2009 13:47 (UTC) |

Only if you want to lose weight. A calorie is a calorie is a calorie... Go start a diet of 2000 calories of veggies and then ask yourself if you need to log it....Be honest with yourself... Record EVERYTHING! Because in 2months if you realize you are not achieving your goals at least you can look back and adjust what you are doing upon an honest refelection of what you have been doing...You are only hurting yourself if you think veggies are 0 calorie foods.

| Foods | Calories in Chinese Takeout | Feb 12 2009 13:44 (UTC) |

usually when I can not find something in it's common form in CC, i usally break it down into its component parts and record it. If it is a one time thing I think of all the calories of the components, and add 100 calories(or more) for sauce(Chinese food) , using my best judgement, and always overestimating on the calories to bee on the safe side. If it is something that I know I will eat a lot I may even use the receipe tool and make it a receipe and tag it. Hope it helps... After calorie counting for 6+ months now I can look at most things and guess the calorie content and be pretty spot on. Ruined my freind's day by telling her how many calories in a Peanut Butter cookie at Starbucks....I said 450cals, the women behind the counter said "No more...." she pulled out the offical receipe book from behind the counter...600cals!!! so not right all the time...But I knew it was no 200cal cookie. |

| Foods | Olive Garden has nutrtional facts! | Jan 22 2009 19:24 (UTC) |

I agree with Zebulancherry...Nutrition facts are not BAD....It is when the Nutrition facts are in-correct, false or do not exist is when they are bad... Because I wrote to CheeseCake Factory telling them I would not dine at their resturant until they provide nutritional info. because I do not care if XYZ is 5000calories...because I know if it is 5000calories, I will only eat 1/10 of it. So I think the important part is the fact they provide the information not that all the items are calorie laden....The other part is you doing your best to determine how much of a serving you actually received. Can you tell me that you do not eat a pizza? Can you tell me that you do not eat any ice cream? I can tell you that i have lost 25lbs, and i have not stopped eating the things I like.. Just less.

Proof you can lose without exercise. 25lbs in 5months, only counting calories and going under all the time. (Not starvation under, just 400-500calories under maintainence.) I find it easier to count calories then to overestimate the number of calories you think you burned excersizing. |

I am not expert but I would make my guess that the damage to your hair and folicals was already done. I do not think the hair loss is a product of eating well now. Keep eating well, and I am sure any hair you have lost will start being replaced by more healthy hair. |

Here is my common response to the negative people, or the people who think they can tell you how to lose weight while they are 50lbs overweight. "I lost 20lbs in 2.5 months without any excerise and only controlling my intake, if and when you can do that feel free to tell me how to do it, until then shut the F* up. The negative people quickly shutup, and then later asked how i did it." |

Thank you all. Hopefully that will break my plateau. I was doing good losing 12lbs in 3weeks, then something went wrong and went flatline. So looking back at my food logs looks like started eating peanut butter sandwhichs for breakfast every day about that time. Just need to measure properly. |

To spite my wife who said she wanted to divorce me. Stating one of the reasons was I am fat. (Not really 6'4" was 237. Now 225 heading to 185). Get looks from the women if I take my shirt off. I will be ready if she does decide she really wants a divorce. She is current not living with me so plenty of time to lose enough to see a difference. I am looking forward to the day to show it off, and I am going to be smug as hell about it. |

| Weight Loss | I feel like a failure. | Jul 21 2008 13:50 (UTC) |

Don't feel like a failure, just look through all the forum posts and you will see a common theme. "I just start 7days ago, and I do not see any weight loss, and I don't eat anything, and I run 10 miles a day." Everyone just needs to chill, then go do some research and reading. Like others have said, you are probably starving your body for the calories you need. I think you are only a failure if you give up, or you cheat yourself.. To me cheating is: eating something, and not recording it, or underestimating the calories. I think if you are honest with yourself on what calories are eating you are already a success because you are taking control of your body. The next step is just finding the right balance between food and exersize. My personal balance is NO EXCERSIZE, and watch every calorie. I think it is much more difficult to calculate calories burned acturately, but it is very easy to calculate calories eaten. (Everthing has a nutricion label.) Your first week, or two weeks should be the breaking in phase and just getting used to counting the calories, and practice eating 5-6times/day, the following weeks should be when you concentrate aiming for the calorie goals. If you find that after 3 weeks something is no changing, then you re-evaluate what you are doing and come here for advise(it is not profesional though) Then, change your strategy because obviously it is not working, and I think for 90% of the posters on here complaining about not losing any weight it is probably the case, of too much excersize and not enough calories eaten. Hang in there. Remember you should be aiming for 500calorie daily deficits, not 3500calorie daily deficits. |

I am a man. and yes you have the curves men like. I am new to the calorie count thing, but I have lost 10lbs in 3 weeks doing it. Without any excersize. At 1500calories per day, or even 1800calories with the excersize it sounds like you are doing, I think you are burning so many calories you put your body into starvation mode. I tried some excersize in the past... But I realized if I do not take control of what I put in my mouth I will never lose any weight, to show off any muscles I make. It is very easy to regulate the calories you put in your mouth. Just about every food has nutritional information. But I think it is very difficult to accurately count how many calories you burn. So my suggestion is to kill the excerise, and concentrate on actually counting the calories that goes in your mouth. Personally, I will plan to burn at least 40 lbs or so before I try to return to do any excersize, even then planning on toning the body more than burning the calories. You can do it. BUt if you are happy where you are at, then that is great too, that is the more important part. |
