Divasnote, did you read the original post? The OP wasn't doing low-carb. She was doing no-carb, and no vegetables, fruit, or other things our bodies need to function healthily. The type of fad crap she was doing was not the healthy balanced low-carb diet sanctioned by these researchers.

Because the daily changes are irregular - up, down, up, down, etc. They are basically just for my own curiosity as to how my previous day's workouts, diet, etc affected my body. Weekly shows a gradual downward trend. I learned this tactic from Weight Watchers and it just works a lot better for me.

I weigh myself for "official logging purposes" once a week, every Wednesday morning. I feel that is sufficient to show a trend. I do weigh myself every day, but those are unofficial weigh-ins. :)

There's a thread in this forum about Jennifer Jolan's works. It sounds like you are basically doing her 12-hour diet, so I would give the thread a read. I do whey protein for breakfast usually - I am still working up to the 3 shakes and then normal dinner approach!

Well, not summer, but I'm getting married in October! I'm trying to drop between 9 and 14 pounds before then, but I have been stuck on this plateau for YEARS so we'll see what happens.

I think I am definitely going to try the half day diet 3 times a week! Instead of waiting until closer to the wedding I think I will start now to see if it's going to work. I only want to lose 10-15 pounds or I start to look kinda scary/dead, so I'm optimistic. (I'm 5'10", 160, and this is classically the point I can't get below with traditional diet/exercise - so trying something new is very exciting.) My body fat percentage is also repulsive so I'm hopeful that I will see some movement on that front as well.

This will be great because I will still be able to cook and eat dinner with my fiance when we get home from work, and being able to eat one meal will stave off the emotional consequences that happen when I don't eat food. I never would have tried something like this if I hadn't seen personal experiences discussed here - thank you everyone!!

Given what I've read here, I don't believe the 1-day diet would work for me on a regular basis because I become crabby as a bear when I'm doing any sort of fast. HOWEVER, it sounds like exactly what I've been looking for to prep for my wedding in October. You ladies who have experience with the protein water - what is your opinion on doing the protein water fast 3x a week for 3-4 weeks?

Weight Loss does BODY WRAP really take off INCHES??? Jun 11 2012

"They actually pull toxins out of your fat cells not dehydrate you. They have lots of herbal stuff that goes in and pushes the toxins out."

As someone currently in medical school, let me just point out how astoundingly untrue this statement is.  Your liver is what clears your body of toxins. Wraps are an expensive way to sweat out water, and anyone who has told you they do anything else is a snake oil salesman. Period.

Again, it's fine to do wraps because they make you feel good, destress you and/or temporarily make you lose an inch or two. But don't make spurious medical claims, please.

Weight Loss Should I up my calorie intake? Jun 09 2012

1200 is the bare minimum of calories for older women who are completely sedentary.

You're 16. Your caloric and nutritional requirements are totally different because you haven't even finished adolescence yet. You aren't even overweight, so if you're frequently eating 1200 calories a day, it sounds to me like your body is probably in starvation mode and trying to desperately hang on to what calories you're giving it. I would definitely up your calories and see if that helps.

Hi everybody! I want to hang out with you guys too, if it's ok.

My name is Meryl and my stats are very similar to some here - I'm 5'10", I weigh 165 lbs and I need to hit 150 in time for my wedding at the end of October!

In 2007 I lost about 30 lbs down from a high of 192 and it made a huge difference. 150 was my goal then as well, and has been for years, but my body just doesn't want to go under 160 and I'm very frustrated. Today is day one, though. If I am ever going to do it, it's now! I've joined a gym and I'm going to try to go 1-2x a week, which isn't much but is huge over my normally sluglike activity level.

A Week of Clean-Eating Dinners
I’m trying to give my eating habits a little cleanup these days. It’s easy to pay close attention to what I’m eating on the weekends when I’ve got tons of time on my hands to prepare delicious meals, but during the week when time is less available I feel the pull of convenience foods for their, well, convenience. Here’s what I try to live by when all I have is 30 minutes to prepare a "clean" meal.
