Turkey chili is one of my faves for the winter. Of course, if you are eating more, you could always exercise more to compensate? Plus I find working out makes me more conscious of what I am eating.

Original Post by vwiggins: I agree that you do need to eat but I do not agree that it should be ice cream (or anything really unhealthy for that matter). You obviously haven't got very much nutrition throughout the day with only 800 cals so I would try to eat something as healthy as possible. Nuts, PB, avacado...something like that. |

Hahaha, I can't think of anything really strange that I have eaten but I just wanted to say that this thread made me laugh pretty hard. I am starting to think this whole "binge" dilemma everyone keeps talking about is really just a bad case of the munchies lol

Original Post by sillysillygoose: Well it sounds like your dad knows how to cook and he is cooking healthy meals, so why not ask him to help you learn a few easy things you can do on your own? I basically just mean not eating Special K for 75% of your calories throught the day, even if you are supplementing it with veggies, it's really just not good enough. Something easy and healthy would be to cook up some ground turkey, throw in some tomato sauce, and put it over some whole grain pasta. Salad or veggies on the side. I'm sure you could manage something like that, no? Overall, you need to be eating A LOT more calories. You are going to destroy your metabolism. I think somebody put the phord calculator in here already, but here is again just incase. Use it. You will probably gain a few pounds at first because you are durastically undereating, but it will go away, and you will be MUCH better off in the long run. |

I am definitely interested to see how this works out for you, I don't really see why it wouldn't? I mean, it's pretty much what I do anyways, I just don't keep a strict count of calories on paper so it is hard to say for sure how many cals exactly I eat during the week vs. the weekend. I have heard that irregular eating patterns can inhibit weightloss, but I don't know that this would be significant enough to qualify as "irregular". Either way I think it's a great way (in theory at least) to balance out the extra calories on the weekend. Let us know how it works out! |

I just entered the work force after 16 years of school last september. I definitely miss school, I just love the academic environment. Working has it perks too though, like you usually don't have to "work" outside of working hours which is nice, frees up a lot of time. That's pretty much the only thing I can think of lol. So I guess my advice would be just to enjoy the last of it and look forward to a new and exciting chapter of your life! |

What's with all the judgement on the drinking? Some people do, some people don't...who cares? She know's it's not the healthiest thing in the world, and has cut back as a result. I also drink about once a week (used to be more), and while I know it is not the best thing for me, I know there are many many things I do everyday that do benefit my health. Plus, it is something I really enjoy as a way to unwind after stressful week and just be social with friends. Also, I have lost about 50 lbs overall. The Special K diet however OP, I don't agree with. You aren't eating enough and you aren't eating the right things. You have to learn how to encorporate real foods into your diet if you are ever going to be successful long term. |

You'll find that almost anything with a creamy sauce/dressing is going to be quite high in calories. I don't know if they are pre-made, but if you can ask them to make you one without the sauce (maybe some mustard instead?), then the calorie content would be considerably less. |

How much more than 2000 are you eating exactly? I am just thinking (without knowing your stats) that if you eat around 2000 cals a day and work out for an hour, you would probably still lose weight. Plus, it would probably make you feel better and you might find some extra motivation. If I were you I would just make a goal to go twice this week. That's it. And see how you feel. |

Original Post by thin_girl: I have a feeling that you get my point, and you probably even agree with it so I am not sure why we are arguing. And no, the minimum is not about weight loss. Weight loss is about deficits, the minimum is about basic nutrition. |

I really don't think it matters how much weight you have to lose, it's really not about weight loss. The minimum was set by this site as a healthy standard because it is virtually impossible to get an adequate amount of nutrition with any less than that, and would therefore be considered a "starvation diet", which is against the posting guidelines here. |

So all this anger is over the approximate 1% of people on this site who would actually be recommended to eat 1200 calories? Kind of ridiculous don't you think? |

Original Post by tinabobeena: I don't think she was making sweeping statement or preaching about anything actually. She did elude to the fact that most people who are eating 1200 cals or less a day are ruining their metabolisms- which is true in most cases. The point was....if you have a healthy, active metabolism your body can handle the odd day or two of excess calories with little to no effect on your weight. I think it's awesome...good for you jackattack! |

Wow...2 hours is a looong time to spend on the treadmill. Good job on having the patience for that. Were you able to enter your weight into your machine? If not, I would go with CC's numbers (40% walking, 60% jogging for two hours). If you did enter your weight, I would maybe go with an average of the two? |
