Not looking forward to leaving the house today. I love this island, I really do, except when the rain thickens to the point of *cough* snow *cough* because when it does we get so much of it. Over a foot Saturday night, and it's not melting at all. Four bald tires are going to be fun as hell to drive on this morning, hardest part will be gettng to the road. |

Since we're talking about boobs here. . . A friend of mine, C.D., took two days off work last week to take his Mom to the mainland (Vancouver) for a scheduled surgery. Total double mastectomy due to pre-cancerous tumours. When they got to the hospital they were told by the staff there that the surgery had been canceled as the Dr. over here had failed to send all of the necessary paperwork. This surgery had been scheduled for two months and they wait till the day of to confirm receipt of the necessary documentation?!? To add insult to injury the Dr. in Vancouver further informed C.D.'s Mom that she was too fat for the surgery anyway and she would have to loose 40lbs before they would even consider it. C.D. was ready to kill when he got in to work Thursday and the whole crew over here are ready to help. His Mom has potentially life threatening tumours of a type that nearly always turn cancerous, and nothing is being done. Her weight issues are a legitimate concern, the surgery would be unreasonably dangerous, apparently, given her current sate of health, but this issue should have been addressed by her local Dr. months ago, just as the documentation errors and communication with the surgery team in Vancouver should have been addressed by the local Dr. It's a total **** show. As things stand, C.D.'s Mom is on a new surgery wait list and is actively working on losing the weight necessary to make the surgery safer. But she is on borrowed time, full blown cancer could develop at any time and her best chance of avoiding it or beating it is to have the tumorous breast tissue removed asap, like last week. |

I've got friends of both genders, real friends. The dynamic is a bit different with each, just as it is different between each individual friend. I've got friends who mostly talk about work, cars, shopping, kids, family, dating, public drunkenness, sex, girls, guys, fishin' & huntin', politics, themselves, sports, and general gossip. A few who are unhappy and trying to live vicariously through me. A few who are utterly fascinating and who I am trying to live vicariously through. They are all "real" friends; just some are closer than others.

I'm living alone right now, not much point in having a tree. I think I have a Christmas card stuck on the door of the fridge though, it might have a tree on it. I will be spending Christmas with some of my family though and I'm sure my sister will have put up a real tree with her kids. |

Because classic TV is the best way to gain insight into other cultures? I'll have to introduce you to my friend the Freisbyterian minister. He believes that when you die your soul gets stuck on the roof of the garage for three years until the wind finally dislodges it, then the dog gets a-hold of it and uses it for a chew toy before burying it in the back yard. But that could just be a metaphor. |

The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
