I'm so sorry I've been missing, needed to get my password and finally did.

I'm thinking of topic suggestions.  We could talk about diversions, what we do when a craving hits.  What about replacements, ie, I want a cookie and I'm very tempted, what do I do?  Also, maybe ideas to shake up our exercise routines.

I'm glad to be back and finally back on the wagon.  Day 7 of sticking to the plan!

Hmm, ways to lose weight without changing my routine.  I could reduce portion size for one, or just eat more veggies and less of the carbs.  Exercise is harder, but it's not necessary for weight loss.  However, it's important for fat loss, so I'm not sure how to do that without changing a daily routine.  I guess sometimes we need to shake it up a little.  Walking or running is definitely an easy way to fit in exercise, just head out the door and get it done.

My weekly mini-goal, well, it's to log.  I've quit logging altogether, so I will tomorrow, the last day.  :)

Sorry I've been missing, I was on vacation and forgot about posting.  I did poorly on vacation, no shock there.  But I did exercise a ton!  I walked on the beach daily, for a total of 5 walks, and the other day I walked all over the outlet malls, so that was probably equivalent at least.  So I need to keep it up here at home, back to the crazy life.

Things that inspire me.  Hmm, that's hard.  For me it's more about personal motivation, either I have it or I don't, and once I lose it, it's hard to get back.  Really, really hard.

I am inspired by people who overcome obstacles in general though, not necessarily weight related.

I can say what does NOT inspire me, people who lost 10 lbs, start exercising, and tell me how to do it like they are the new experts.  I've been doing this for years folks, I know how to do it, I've lost 90'ish lbs, twice.  Now that's not good, the twice part.  What I need actually is input and examples of people who have maintained their weight loss for a long period of time.

I didn't set goals this time.  Setting attainable goals for me involves looking realistically at a situation and determining what I can do, what I've done in the past, and what I want to do.  So I know I can stick to 1500 cal per day, burn 2350 and then anything extra if I exercise.  Given those paramaters, a 1000 calorie deficit is do-able, so at the most, I can lose 2 lbs per week.  To aim higher, is to fail.  To aim lower, might be okay, it all depends on why.  Other goals, like exercise, need to consider where you are now.  If you are not working out, then going to 5 days per week right away is going to be too much, you need to do it gradually.

So, IMO, realistic goals take knowledge and common sense.

I don't generally use excuses, I know what the problem is, eating too much.  I can't really think of an answer to this.

I'm stuck though, but it's just my lack of focus, i need to get it back.  I want to lose before vacation, that's in a month, so that's my current motivation, not the greatest, granted, but if it helps me get started.

I can't believe I missed 2 weeks, I knew about one, I last posted on 4/27, that's 11 days.  Anyway, about myself.  I'm Jenny, in my 40's, 4 kids, lost 81 lbs over the past 13 months, I'm kind of stuck, although I did have a deficit today.  I keep recommitting to logging, and not logging, I have no idea why.  Well, it's partly that I've been depressed.  I did start taking Wellbutrin again, it's helping some, but not enough yet.  Lots of stress in my life.  I'm a student getting my master's in communication disorders, planning to be a speech pathologist, I'm about 1/2 way through and got my first non-A (it was an A minus) which kind of ticks me off, but does take off the pressure to maintain a 4.0 since I can  now never get it back.

"The one thing I will do this week to help me achieve my goal(s) is...."

I'm committing to logging again.  I'm not sure how I got away from it.  I will log everything I eat, even if it's a binge.  I've binged some lately and have gained some weight as a result, it's not too bad, yet.  Need to get working on it though.

Also I have committed to taking Wellbutrin again.  My depression got fairly bad.  It's day 4 and I feel a tiny bit better already, but I have a ways to go.

The habit I've changed.  Hmm, thinking here.  I guess it has to be exercise, I'm doing it longer and more often.  For eating, it's not going well, but at the end of this week it will be that I'm logging again.

Thanks everyone.  Obvious weight gain (jeans aren't loose anymore) is forcing me back on the wagon.  I'm starting back on low carb tomorrow.  That's such a simple way to lose, but it does get boring.

I haven't slacked at all in exercise, so that's good news.  I'm still at 5-6 days per week of cardio of 50-60 minutes and lifting 2-3 times per week.  I have to take some time off from upper body work as I injured my elbow, but I'll keep up with lower body.

Going to aerobics tomorrow morning!  And I'll do lower body lifting as well.

I met and exceeded exercise goals.
I've eaten too many calories

I lost weight overall, about 15 lbs, not what I wanted to lose though.

I was logging, but quit over the last week.

New goals:

Exercise 4 times per week cardio, 2-3 weights

Eat 1500-1800 calories per day

Log 6 days per week.

Lost 12 more lbs.

You want to lift weights at least and do moderate cardio to make sure you lose mostly fat, otherwise there's little point to weight loss if you're burning significant amounts of muscle.

I like the way this group makes me evaluate my goals on a regular basis, it helps a lot to think of how I'm doing.  I do wish there were more conversation, ie, replies to posts, back and forth, etc.  I'm not sure how to encourage that.  I noticed that that all members should hd check up, and noted that it wasn't being followed.  I think that those that don't benefit from the group should probably just leave of their own volition.

Thanks for all you do mods!

I have done this in the past, positive self talk.  I didn't do it at a specific time, just at different points throughout the day.  I should try it again, I'm worried about the future and maintaining/continuing to lose.

My progress towards my goals is okay, I'm still exercising a lot, need to change that goal actually.  I'm also still eating more than goal, however, I'm trying to have a 1000 calorie deficit, and most days I'm within 10% of that, so that is good.  So I need to change that goal too!

I don't know how heart rate monitors like that are.  All machines have some margin of error. I've never used anything like that, would be interesting to see.  Maybe you need to weigh your food, you could be off on portion sizes.

It seems to me that you're gaining because you're eating more than you burn.  The only other alternative is that you've been gaining muscle.  Calorie burn calculators are just estimations, so you don't know for sure how much to eat to maintain.
