You really most be addicted to cereal with all those cereal posts you have made. Good news is that its possible to lose weight even while eating cereal. Just be sure to have a deficit about 250-500 everyday :)
Weight Gain need to fix metabolism Feb 13 2012

I don't know how old you are but if you're under 25, you will need 3000+ everyday to speed up your metabolism. At 1500 calories you will only gain weight, not fix your metabolism.

You have to tell yourself that you need this. It's your ED trying to make excuses for not eating. 1500 is a weight lose amount and remember that you are trying to make your body think that it isn't starving. I was never underweight either, but I still need 3000+. Actually i gained faster on the 2000 i ate before, than on 3000+ that I'm eating now.

You've probably already read this, but I had to do it several ties before I got the point. This was me being in the exact sam situation.

Believe it or not but even though you'r not underweight you still deserve to eat as many calories as everyone else trying to recover. You've hurt your body just as bad.

You need to eat AT LEAST 2500 a day but with 3000 it would go a lot faster. You will gain by doing this. I won't lie to you. BUT at some point you will reach a 'max weight', your metabolism will go back to normal and you will stop gaining. If your 'max weight' are BMI 24+ you will start to lose weight on the 3000+ per day until you get down to the weight that you are meant to be at. Some people even lose some without having the BMI 24+. Maybe you won't be as skinny as you are now, but if you end up at a higher weight, than thats because that where you're suppose to be. And believe me, when you're a couple of weeks into recovery you'll learn to love your body and you won't fell the urge to being skinny.

I can't tell you have long time it would take. I think it has a lot to do with how long you've restricted, to what amount of calories and just your body. I talked to this girl once who told me that she didn't gain a pound in recovery and it only took her body some weeks to get back to normal. I've on the other hand also talked to people who have been recovering for months without seeing much results. So i really can't tell you how long time it will take. But this is the only way out of this and at some point you have to do it. Think about it this way. For every day you use restricting, you will arrive a day later at you goal, so better start now. I know its hard, but you have to fight it. This ED stuff is only a major detour <3

Im really sorry for your struggles! I myself am trying to recover from a restrictive eating disorder. Right now I'm 15 y/o, 138 and 5'3 (BMI 24ish). I STILL need 3000+ calories. Actually 1500, even though it might not be a starving amount for someone else your height and weight, is nowhere near enough to recover your metabolism. At 1500 your body will still think that you are starving and won't use the valuable energy that you are giving it right now, on your metabolism. Until you give it an appropriate amount of calories your body will store everything you give it as fat, because its waiting for the next starvation period.

I'm saying this out of experience. 1500 cals won't make you recover. 2500+ is the minimum for women 25+ and everyone else need 3000+. I know it's hard to get there, and scary, but you really just have to do it! You'll thank yourself when all this is over.

Health & Support At what point in recovery do you start to feel better? Feb 07 2012

Recovering from EDNOS, i know that things might be slightly different from people recovering from an AN, both physically because you have to gain weight while we don't, and mentally because AN's most of the times had had the disease longer. If we forget about all that, i can tell you when i started too fell better. The thing that changed the fastest was the way i thought about food. When i was restricting down to my lowest amount, i thought about food constantly and all the time. It took away all of my concentration. The food-thinking disappeared after 1-2 months and i couldn't be more happy. I now know that it was maybe the thing about my disorder that i hated the most.

Recovery takes time, it's hard, but its worth it. It's deferent to everyone, as some people haven't been as deep into it as others and some relapses but if you decide to recover at some point you WILL feel better at some point! I'm not fully recovered yet, but i certainly feel a lot better know than i have been the last year.

Wish you all the best!

You don't tell us a lot about yourself, like height, weight, age ect. but since you are posting in YCC i assume that you are a teen. As a teen you need more than a grown up adult because you'r still growing and if your not very low in height and weight and is very young i'm pretty sure you need more than 1500 as a maximum.

Sometimes people binge because they don't get enough calories or because they are missing certain nutrients.

Try to use this calculator to see how many cals you need and then, if you need to lose weight, subtract your maintaince amount with 250-500 cals. This should make you lose in a good and safe pace :)

Good luck!

Screw this ****, I'm going down again. I weighed 69 kg this morning BEFORE BREAKFAST, AFTER PEEING, and my stomach was empty. 1800 is NOT the number for me.

+ you were suppose to eat 2000+. not 1800. you can't expect everything to go after your head and in your speed. you have to eat right if you want the right things to happen. 1800 is a weight lose amount and not enough

It's your choice and your body, but really.. it's stupid if you let a number get in your way of being happy. I know how you fell but you really just have to accept yourself as you are, like you would accept anyone else, if they were thin or not. Don't let vanity ruin your life. I don't want to use more time on helping you if you don't even want to treat yourself and you body right, but really.. you have to think about the damage you are doing and how you are treating yourself.

I thinks it's horrible how people are beginning to think that it's 'bad' to eat. I got this one friend that eats all the time. People constantly comment on it like there's something wrong with eating, but the truth is she NEEDS the cals so it would be more wrong if she ate as little as my other friends. Everybody keep putting pressure on each other which is so wrong.

You need the calories because you are running. If you don't gain weight it's a good amount for you. Everybody have different burns, you might burn a lot more even without you running, so just eat. Just keep eating what you do now, don't ever restrict!<3 and  little more probably wouldn't kill you either :) hoping to get in your position at some point, so i can eat as much as i want without feeling terrible. good luck with everything!

Started binging the last week, thought you only did that when you where eating too little /: is there a good Way, besides exercise, to really give you metabolisme a kick in the right direction?

Your body is going to want to overeat for awhile to compensate for the 800-1100 cals a day. up your intake but don't "lose it" or eat until you can't move because your body won't be able to process it all at one time. eat until your full...then wait a few hours and eat until you're full again and so on.how are you doing now?

That makes a lot of sense! I'm okay now actually. Started to feel better about food and accepting my weight (135lbs now :/), and i haven't gained in a week either so I'm positive! Hoping that my metabolism is soon where it should be. I've upped my intake a little because i actually burn 2200 on an average day so i usually eat that, sometimes more because i make myself believe that it will speed up the process :D hahah anything for getting healthy!

The first pounds might be water weight, but i wont lie to you, you will gain real weight when you up you intake, don't Think that you'll be able to maintain. BUT don't let that stop you! after a while your body will get used to the cals and your weight will even out :) you seem smart and im sure you know how important it is that you get your metabolisme back to normal and be able to maintain on a Real amount of food. And sure, im always ready to help, i've been there myself :)

Right now the only clever thing you can dó is to up your intake to AT LEAST 2000 calories. The fact that you arr gaining on 1500 calories shows how screwed up you metabolisme is already. I have to tell you that what you are gaining now is real weight not just water weight.

I have to go now, so i'll bump it for someone else to finish my answer but please eat more ASAP! Feel free to message mé if you got any questions! :) good luck!

This id just a thougth, but are you eating enough cals througth the day? If not, it could be your body telling you that its starving and needs more food. If thats the case, the only way to stop it is to eat more. Getting the right amount of cals is very important in order to not make disordered habits around food :) Also, just try to relax. Many people have problems with binges, some bigger than other. I find myself doing it sometimes and i know that its almost impossible to fight. When i try to calculate the things i binged on, i often find that my body actually was craving all the nutrients i before was low on, or maybe havent Got enough of over a periode of time :) i don't know much about your case but this could be some of the reasons. Good luck with everything, and feel free to message mé if you need to talk! :)

Sorry for misspellings, im on my iphone ;)

I don't know anything about your daily intake while losing weight so I can't tell if you might have been starving or not, but if you have, your binges are very normal
