The Lounge thrift store shopping Jun 01 2012

I love thrift shopping (although, in Australia we call it Op-shopping, I'm not sure why!). But it's true that it's getting harder to get good stuff at the op-shop, because a lot of the vintage store owners get all the good stuff and then put the prices up heaps! Which is silly, but I still love it!

Good luck! I hope this announcement gives you the motivation to stop drinking! I find it really hard not to drink, too. But I have to think which one I'd prefer, a hot bod, or a cold beverage?

Weight Loss will one day of over eating ruin my diet? May 30 2012

edhla that's the thing that I'm most worried about. I used to binge/purge, so having a day of serious over eating is a bit scary for me. I don't purge anymore, but it's still hard to feel so out of control like that, that I can't stop myself from binging.

But thanks everyone, for your advice/motivation! I'll have to remember not to feel too guilty about having one day of eating lots!

Are you using it on your phone/iPod/whatever now, but was on your computer before? Sometimes it doesn't sync properly. There's an option to sync under ... Account? Hope that helps!

It's really interesting when you put it like that hollowness, that makes me feel a bit better about my weight not really doing anything at the moment, even though I'm working out and eating well. Thanks for the motivation!

I live in the southern hemisphere too! I make lots of soup, and there's so many types that I never get bored. And I drink ridiculous amounts of tea (herbal and black). Drinking green tea helps me beat the hunger.

And on occasions, we have lasagne or casserole, if I really can't beat my cravings!

Recipes Low calorie recipe to satisfy a sweet tooth? May 01 2012

I've got a sweet tooth, too. But I just had a small apple crumble (made in an individual ramekin) which was about 160 cals.

I mixed half a diced granny smith apple with some spices (cinnamon, ginger, etc.), and a sprinkle of sugar, and a squeeze of lemon juice. Put this in the ramekin and dot a bit of butter on top (to keep it moist!). Then mix some dry oats with desiccated coconut, a bit more sugar (like, half a tsp) and a tiny bit of flour. Pour this over the apple mix and (if you're feeling daring!) put a bit more butter on top. Stick it in the oven for about 20 mins (while you're eating dinner) at 180-200C. You could serve this with some light ice-cream or yoghurt!

You're getting a serve of fruit and it will curb your cravings! (you could use some other kind of fruit if you don't like apples!)

including fasting 18 hrs one day per week on my rest day.

Can I ask you how fasting helps? How does it make your body feel after fasting? I don't really understand the benefits of it, especially if you're eating all your calories in one meal to break the fast.

Wow, thanks hollowness, I must admit, I didn't understand all of it, but it's good to know that I don't have to eat the same calories everyday, especially depending if I work out or not.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Health & Support Anything wrong with eating canned tuna every day? Apr 27 2012

I'm no specialist or expert (not even close), but I remember hearing once about the amount of mercury that is in canned tuna, which can be bad for you. Maybe swap your proteins around a bit, so you're not eating it everyday? You could try canned salmon or crab or chicken!

I live in Australia, so catching the bus is perfectly safe. And I don't know what co-pay is (we have free doctors visits).

But I'm glad it's all working out for you. Keep trying!

And I've talked with my mom about counseling, she knows I've suffered with depression/anxiety in the past but she doesn't know of my ED. I'm so afraid to tell her because when I told her about my depression she took me to church instead of a doctor. It took a mental breakdown for someone to finally give me medical attention. So maybe I'll just have to suck it up and tell her and hope that she'll take me to a doctor. I've contacted my health insurance company and they will pay for mental health treatment.

I don't want you to think I'm being rude here, but can't you go to the doctor by yourself? I know you said you don't drive or anything, but couldn't you find some other way of getting there? I went to the doctor by myself to talk to them about getting treatment for depression, because I was scared of talking to my parents about it. It was scary going by myself, but less scary than talking to my mum! Or, if you're too scared to go by yourself, maybe your boyfriend could go with you?

Nothing will ever change if you don't try to change it.

You just have to keep thinking of your goal! Imagine how you would be after you reach it!

And think about how good you'll feel after a workout, all those endorphins running around!
