Weight Loss slow metabolism? Sep 10 2011

Frankly, I don't think you have provided enough info for anyone to answer your questions.  What do you consider a lot of exercise, and what is in the calories you consume, ..   I think we all underestimate our exercise and what it burns and underestimate the calories we consume.   For 7 months I kept detailed logs of what I ate and carefully (understimated) the calories I burnt.  Guess what , the math worked.  I lost what I should have lost.  The minuted I stopped religiously doing this the weight loss significantly slowed down.  I thought I knew what i was eating.. not true.

if you want the support and the answers to help you, you have to provide more info that graphs showing the weight gain and all words like "alot" and more detail in the calories you consumed.

I work two jobs and sometimes don't know if I have to go from on job to another, I don 't consider fast food as an option as A)  Its expensive B) Fattening... There are many ways around eating out.   there is no reason you cannot make your lunch the night before and throw it in a cooler.  I have learned that we are great at making excuses when we don't want to do something.    I pack a cooler with my lunch and an extra protein bar and protein powder in case I get called into to job #2.

I am not ashamed to pull into the parking lot and have my self a picnic lunch or dinner....

Two Words for my spouse "grow up"... If the doesn't like it he can find something else to eat.  I work just as much as he does and take care of the house, bills, kids, and whatever else life throw is my way.

Perhaps while  he is watching 35 hours of tv in a week he can find something else to eat in the house.

No it is not a big deal............. but you need self control to be sober not food... If you can't keep track of how much you drank and need food to get you sober than why would you think you need to keep track of what you eat.   You did not mention you were worried about the calories in the booze...

Bottom line is that the scale does not move if we are not accurately and honestly recording what we eat.  You have to be brutally honest with your self.  I am keeping up the same workout schedule.  I have not actively tracked my food in two months... guess what the weight loss stopped because I am not being honest with myself.  I think I am eating the same but I bet if I wrote it down I am not.

sex is not the same thing as saying, I am sorry I said that to you.  I hurt your feelings and it was wrong of me to do that.

As for dinner, he can have what you are having or the 4 year old since that is the way he is behaving.

Well, honestly, is there anything on TV that is really worth watching?  I will not watch tv just to watch it.  I make a selection record and and allow it 1 hour before bed time.

I know you want to stay on track and have babies.... did you also know that the reason so many people have c-sections is because they gain too much weight through the pregnancy and it slows down the dilation process... not to mention the threat of diabetes and hypertension and kidney problems..  Get healthy now... Get away from the treadmill and go outside away from the house.  Start walking 15 minutes and pretty soon you will up to an hour...

You have to take care of yourself.

If my husband told me to keep packing it on I would tell him to pack it up and move his 300 pounds out.  He has no reason to speak to you like that.  it is verbally abusive.    I have been married 30 years and I can tell you men only get worse as they get older.

I have placed my health and exercise as a priority in my life after taking care of everyone else.  If they don't like it they  then too bad!  I used to worry about whether or not dinner was late, but then I realized  he was already on the couch for two hours sooo if he was that hungry he could start dinner himself.

I make foods that are in my diet plan, if they don't like it there are ho-hos in the pantry so there !

Take care of yourself as no one else will.

In february, I said enough is enough.  I honestly did not eat much and never ever ate breakfast or lunch..... and when I did it was a candy bar.  On Feb 11, 2011, I really made a change.  I started to eat breakfast, cut out most carbs from white stuff and refined sugar (aka cookies... my other weakness) and except for Saturday pizza).  I got an xbox kinnect and did kick boxing for 1 hour every morning.  Walked at Lunch and worked my self up to a 5 mile walk after dinner.  I lost 30 pounds by June 10.    That was my first mini goal.  I started with calorie count on March 18 and started to see more dramatic results once I logged everything I had.

For June and July I took break.  Still ate pretty well, cut down to a 5 mile walk in the morning.  and on June 29, I did start couch 2 5k.  I did not gain any but did not loose any which tells me I was some what concious of what I was eating.  Started logging my foods again a couple of weeks ago and am down 4 pounds.  It is truly important to watch what kind of calories you put in to your body and be honest with your self.  It is hard to do and admit but there are always phantom calories that and get recorded.  Big question... how many cups of cereal?  YOu should not deny your self cereal if you love it but ..... a serving is not always a bowl.  .

You have already said your going back to gym; so you have made the decision to  get back on the band wagon.  You cannot sacrifice everything.... Vacations and holidays happen.  Just get going again.  I also find you cannot deny yourself everything because then you become a martyr.  The point is you have committed to a lifestyle change.  When you take a vacation from work, you take a vacation.  Just consider it recharging your batteries to get going again :)

I just started the couch to 5K program.  It is a nine week program to help develop the conditioning to run.    I have been exercising since Feb (xbox kinnect cardio kick boxing and walking.  I am too cheap to join a club.  I have dropped 32 pounds.  I have also been walking between 5 & 10 miles a day so I  thought I would give it a try on my walks.  So far so good I am on week 2 day 3.

Health & Support No Support From Husband May 19 2011

After 30 years of marriage I realized that everything I did was not for me... It was for the family.  I gave up a lot and started to resent it.

So this is what I do... I make the meals, I do the shopping, I do the cooking, and I clean up... I try have something every one will eat.  I choose not eat the things that are not in my plan...

I work out when I want and make dinner when I want.  If they want to eat and don't want to make it themselves.. then they will have to wait.  Most men make time to watch TV... Mine has a physical job so he does not need the physical exercise... but guess what 35 hours in front of the TV.... how about mental exercise.  That is what I do what I want.

You do not need his support or his permission.  By thinking you need this, it is just another mental  block on your way to being healthy.    You have to do this for you and no one else...Further more, he should not be watching the kids, he should be taking care of them.  He is not a baby sitter  He is their father.  AND he is not your father which is the way he is acting.

Be good to your self and you will be a better wife and mom.

What I have found is you have to be true do yourself, write down every morsel of food you put in your mouth.

Also be very honest about your exercise, write down every minute and research the amount of calories burnt from what you are doing.

Calorie Count is a great tool and you can really see if you are at a deficit or not.
