Try

- Chilli con carne - on a baked potato

- Chicken, Pea and Leek Pie

- Curried Mince with Coconut - with rice and fat-free Naan bread

- Ham and Mushroom Pie - serve with steamed veggies

- Mushroom Curry with Peas and Potatoes - with rice and fat-free Naan bread

- Pasta with Sausage & Mushrooms - I tend to add a sprinkle of cheese on top afterwards

Foods Sodium...What to do about that sodium... Apr 20 2012

Just to add to the fun, the link between sodium and high blood pressure was based on the results of one study. A more recent, larger study which was published a couple of years ago came to the conclusion that there was no direct evidence of a link between sodium in the diet and high blood pressure.

Having said that, there IS a strong link between blood pressure and a bad imbalance of Sodium/Potassium levels. So it probably makes sense to cut back on sodium intake AND boost potassium intake at the same time - if all else fails use the lo-salt substitutes which often replace sodium chloride with potassium chloride.

Scientific American: It's time to end the war on Salt

Every few years the medics reverse direction on so many things, I've given up worrying about getting everything exactly on target.

The Lounge how to tell you boyfriend you are pregnant Jan 09 2012

First, your age - VERY young to be making such a hard decision. Sorry you are in the position, but you are :(

I'd start by very seriously considering whether you are going to keep the baby, and base your other actions on that. It's tough if you are underage, but your family MAY rally round wonderfully well - only you have an inkling whether that is likely.

Your boyfriend may stick with you, he may cut and run, he may get angry and blame you, or he may stay but act trapped - prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for all options. Also bear in mind he may be facing jail depending on which country you are in, for having sex with a minor.

Telling your parents - that depends on how you and your parents get on. It CAN help to face them WITH your boyfriend IF they like him. It can also help to have a close supportive friend present to act as a damper on the wilder reactions from your parents.

And despite being male, I've been in much the same boat - telling MY parents that my girlfriend was pregnant. She told me before her parents, in our case. For us, it worked - I've been married for 28 years now.

If you decide to keep the child, for goodness sakes see your doctor ASAP to talk about diet while pregnant - trying to lose weight while carrying a child is far more complex than doing so with no "passenger"

Good luck and I'm praying for you to make the right decision for you and your future happiness.

I suggest some "active" yoghurts for a few days - the proportions of your intestinal flora are currently based around digesting veggies, and it might be worth giving them a kick-start  in case there are any that are missing/ in short supply for digesting meat.

Ok Wordy, I'll spill. Jules has been accepted to West Point. It is the US Military Academy and the Alma Mater of some of the finest soldiers ever produced by our country. One of the finest educational establishment in the US rival to your Oxford.

In that case - Way to go, Jules!!!!

Another (plain) mayo tip - brush it on to get a perfect glossy finish on pies and pastries

Afternoon peoples!

Well, after relaxing wholesale over Christmas, I gained a bit, but my total loss over 52 weeks was still 102 pounds. Just need to get back on the wagon and hang on to get to my target.

Don't get pushed into having kids until YOU are ready - and if you just bought a house making sure you're 100% financially stable first is more important

Gaaah, oh my god, I'm so stupid.

I get it.

thank you for the compliment, that was very sweet.  I didn't get it.  I thought you were saying that I didn't have to say "in vinyl" because it was so obvious what we were talking about.

:) I know you'd work it out eventually

17 weeks since my last cigarette. Yesterday I received the check for my reimbursement for stop smoking drug (Chantix). I can now use that to start paying my annual deductible. Coincidentally they are roughly the same amount:(

Well done :)

Pav, can I work in the candy factory?

I'd really like to be a giant gummi bear picker, but I'd settle for stirring the chocolate river or putting up edible wallpaper.

Just let me know.

Don't you have to be small and brown and sing in large groups to do that kind of thing?

Serious - I can't stand the taste of alcohol...

nobody "likes" the taste of alcohol...

*raises hand*

Hello, my name is Kari and I love the taste of alchohol.

I sip and hold on my tongue to enjoy :)  and I do not drink mixed drinks.

i stand corrected :P

but MOST people don't enjoy the taste of alcohol.

Hmmm  ... So most people don't like the taste, OR the after effects, and yet still expect sympathy the morning after when they have a head with its own percussion section and a pneumatic drill...

... sorry, I think I'll stay sober and just laugh.
