well i was at a cousin's house (when i was 13, no less) and my cousin's wife had had her first baby. there was a small get-together with their family friends at the house. scene one: i'm playing with my new second cousin, tossing him around and tickling him and such. enter distant family friend. she happily said to me, "so, what's it like being a mother?" i looked at her totally puzzled and said, "what??" she gestured toward the baby and said "motherhood. hows it going?" i just looked at her and she finally said, "um, what's your name?" i said "katie.." realizing i wasn't crystal, the baby's mother, she just quietly left the room without saying anything else to me.
WAKEUP CALL. i was 13! come on! a mother? |

hey, i'm 14 and i'm on what some my call a 'strict' diet for being a teen.
being on this site, i've been told that i'm too young to be eating so little (i try to eat 1300 calories a day) but it's been working for me, so i'm going to continue. i'm trying to lose weight because, to be blunt, i want to look better. i don't really care about my health as much as my appearance. that sounds totally shallow, but i'm just being completely honest. my dad always looks at the ingredients on things to see if there are any preservatives or whatnot: i just look at the calories and fat. my group of friends are all my height (5'7) but they are only 117 and 102 pounds. it's difficult seeing them and then looking at myself (130 lbs) and feeling good about my body. so i want to lose as much weight as it takes me to feel confident in a swimsuit. that's all im saying. |

| heyy. i noticed weight loss first on my wrists and fingers and feet. that sounds really weird, but it's true. then my waist, then my arms, then my face. im still waiting for my stupid thighs to catch up. | |||

but yeah i dont know though. every time i eat more than 1300 calories i'm afraid im going to get fat again. im really worried about upping my calories at all. |

| hahaha i would just buy some cheap ones from payless or something. that way when you feel the shoes getting loose you can have the same feeling of accomplishment you have when you feel your pants getting looser. (: | |||

| it's absolutely true. my mom went from an 8 to a 7 1/2 in shoes after she lost weight. all my shoes are fitting looser too. yep. your feet shrink. | |||

bump! whats wrong with me? just now i had spaghetti, corn on the cob, and strawberries for dinner. and my slightly scary uncle (one i would not like to say no to) tossed me a hershey bar earlier which i ate, and i had dippin'dots too. i was ok the rest of the day, i had cereal for breakfast and a tuna sandwich for lunch.
i feel like crap and i hate myself right now. |

hey! my menu isn't that diet because i hate feeling like i'm on one. except when buying lean cuisines cuz those are good. my system is eating 300 calories or less for my 3 core meals, then saving the rest for snacks so i don't feel starved and/or deprived. here is my 'im on a diet but i dont want to eat rice crackers and tofu all day diet' haha:
breakfast: i'll either have a cup of honey bunches of oats with 1% milk and a banana, which totals up to about 250 calories or i'll havee a 1 egg omlette (yolk and all!) with less then a capful of actual oil and half a piece of actual cheese! :) that totals up to 210 calories. you can add some fruit like strawberries or anything! i had coffee so my total went to 240 calories. lunch: i have a toasted turkey and cheese sandwich (i love my cheese). i use van de kamps bread which is only 70 cals per slice and lean turkey which is only 10 calories per slice (i use two). and again, i use only half a piece of cheese, which is 40 cals. so totaled, my sandwich is 200 calories. i'll either eat an apple along with it (65 cals) or something else, like edamame or light string cheese (60 cals!!) or a sugar free chocolate jello cup (60 calss!) so lunch ends up totaling to about 265 calories. dinner: i like lean cuisine. they have some great roughly-300-calorie meals. i like this one lasagna dish, mmmm its SO yummy, doesn't taste diet, and it's only 320 calories. that's never enough for me, so i make a salad with apples chopped in it and wishbone salad spritzer (the italian flavor) i only have half the apple, i give the rest to my mom, so thats only about 35 calories plus the 10 for the salad dressing (i never count lettuce. its only like 4 calories). so THAT total is 365 calories (kind of high, i usually aim for a little bit lower then that) ALL THAT FOOD only totals to 880 calories!! and the 420 calories left over make for two 210 calorie snacks or you can indulge in a hot pocket or a pop tart even! dont feel like you're on a diet with your snacks! thats what i do and i've lost almost 15 pounds since june 4th! good luck! |

| i eat 1300 calories and try to get an hour of exercise. i hear what you people are doing and it sounds insane! i dont do half the exercise you do. is that bad? yesterday i walked three miles and went on a leisurely bike ride to my friend's house, and that was it. the other day all i did was weight train for an hour. i never feel pooped afterword, but i'm losing weight, so i guess it's working. | |||

| actually workoutaddict, you might be surprised to hear that my friend (the one who works out) is thin and muscular. i'm very jealous of her body type. she has zero flab. she's like a size 1 or 3 in pants and has really toned arms and stuff. her thighs don't jiggle when she walks. *sighs deeply* | |||
