Health & Support Food Jealousy! May 24 2008

I don't know any of your background but when I was battling anorexia at its worst, I would bake cookies, pies, cakes, make quiche, spaghettii and not touch a single bite. I would also whatch food network all thr time and sit on the couch for hours just "looking" through cook books. I realize now, that I was vicariusly "eating" through all of these behaviors without really eating. Basically what I am saying is these are unhealthy behaviors and can lead to deeper issues down the road.

Hey everybody, I've been having some problems lately. I was doing pretty good with eating regularly and stuff but this last week, I have been restricting again and also purging which is something I have NEVER done before! It makes me feel so ashamed and guilty. My mom could tell something was weighing heavy on my mind and asked me what was wrong so I told her everything. Then she started telling me to just "stop" throwing up because it will kill me and is a waste of food! Uggg!!! I can't wait untill wednesday, so I can talk to my counselor I hope she isn't to disappointed in me.Cry Sorry for the rant I have just had a very stressful week and needed to get it out! If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.=)

I would really see my doctor if I were you, it sounds like you are experiencing some pretty hard side effects that you shouldn't have to live with. Tell your doctor exactly what you are experiencing and ask if there is a different medication you could try, I don't know why you take prozac but I have been on lexapro for 6 months and I am doing great! Good luck, I hope you start feeling better soon!Smile

My mom is severly lactose intolerant. She chews Lactaid tablets 1 before the dairy product and 1 right after she's done eating. It has worked wonders for her, she still sometimes gets cramping and stuff but not nearly as bad as before. Oh yeah, I was going to say rice pudding too;p

Ok, first off you need to take a deep breath and calm down, it will be alright. You don't need to beat yourself up over this. Now, you should eat within 30 min. of waking up, eat lots of protein. If you want a good amount of food for a reasonable amount of calories than try this yummy breakfast scramble: 5 egg whites scrambled with mushrooms, onions, peppers, and a soy sausage patty the calorie amount would be around 300 and that is just fine for a breakfast. Or if you are like me and are more of a "grazer" than have a fruit smoothie with 1 or 2 scoops of protein powder, 1 dannon light and fit yogurt, frozen berries, and lots of ice. That should fill you up for awhile. Choose snacks that are high in volume: a pear and a cheeses stick, a banana with peanut butter, graham crackers with nutella and milk, grapes and turkey, cottage cheese with fruit mixed in, I like to chop up an apple put it in a ziploc and crush fiber one cereal in it with cinammon and splenda warm up and it tastes like an apple pie!! I hope some of this was helpful.=)

You can message me and I would be more than happy to talk to you more and share a little more of my story and background.Smile

Yes, different bones and organs can start to feel sore when you are under weight. I remember when I was at my lowest weight I had to sleep on the couch because it would hurt my pelvic and back bones to sleep on my bed. Please get help and talk to someone. You can message me if you have any questions about anorexia or anything else. =)

Hi, shottgun! Homeschooling worked out great for me. The only thing I would highly recommend would be to make friends before homeschooling. My only problem was that I started homeschooling right after moving to a new town so I never got to make friends or anything, so homeschooling was very good but was pretty lonely:/ You can message me and I can tell you more about my story and any other questions you have.Smile

What I love to do is add a scoop of vanilla whey protein powder to my dannon light and fit yogurt, the protein powder only adds 50 cals and 10 grams of protein! So for 110 cal you get a 15 gram protein packed delicous yougurt. (the best flavors are peach and cherry vanilla!)

Hi everybody, my name is Zoie and I have been reading your guy's posts for a while now and thought I should finally join and share my story, so if your ready to read for awhile here it goes,

I will be 18 next month and am homeschooled. Beasically I was hellishly teased everyday day of my life from 2nd grade on through 9th grade for being overweight. My mom started home schoolinging me halfway through my freshman year of high school. I was 13 and weighed 250lbs! I ate my way through the pain and would sit and cry with a plate full of food, trying to numb the pain. anyway, my mom had gastric bypass surgery and started losing weight fast! She was getting so much praise and I wanted some to so I decided to start "dieting" I tried weight whatchers, jenny craige, etc. I would lose 10 lbs and then gain it back. I finally found that the only way to keep the number on the scale going down was to severly limit my food intake. I experimented (only celery and mustard, only juice, etc.) By 15 I was going 6 days without eating and then stuffing my face on the 7th day, that went on for about 6 months. I slowly switched to eating everyday but only around 400 calories. Everyone told me how great I looked but that I should stop losing weight now (I dropped down 140lbs) I would smile and say I know, but secretly their comments fueled my disorder. My period stopped although I didn't tell my mom or my doctor. My hair hair was falling out. I was soooo cold all the time even when people where outside in shorts and tank tops, I would be in jeans and three shirts with a sweatshirt and still be chilled to the bone.

In December of this year I got a severe kidney infection and was put in the hospital for a week. They ran all sorts of tests on me to try and figure out why I was losing so much weight. All they found where very low levels of every thing and a slow heart beat, but I gained 6 lbs and was realeased on christmas eve.

My lowest point was a week later when I went back to my doctor and I had lost 12 lbs! My doctor looked me in the eye and said, you are going back into the hospital and this time it is for anorexia. I sat there and cried both out of fear and relief, my secret was out and I was finally going to get help. When we got to the hospital I felt really bad, like I was going to pass out and I fell onto the hospital bed, a nurse ran in and took my blood pressure it was 28 over 40! They immediatly called in the code team and all these people started running in starting more ivs, getting blood, hooking up heart moniters, and the scariest thing was that I felt myself slipping away. I slowly came back and was fealing better. After another week in the hospital and losing 2 more pounds they sent my to an inpatient eating disorder hospital at stanford, and that was complete hell but nesessary.

Since then, I have gone from 122lbs to 150lbs at 5ft 10in. I am trying to accept my body but lately I have started binging on food, I feel like I am going to turn into that 250 lb teenager again and that scares me the most! I have my good days but I deffinatly have my bad days, like the day I could no longer fit into my size 4 jeans! I still feel very ashamed at wearing a size 6 and still can't go shopping.

Sorry for such a long message, but that is my story and it would be nice to talk to someone that knows what I am going through. Feel free to message me, I would love to talk to people that are in the same boat as me.=)

A really yummy recipe is to chop up some apples and throw them in a ziploc bag with crushed fiber one cereal, cinamon, and splenda. Trust me it totally tastes like a little apple pie and I bet it would be even better warmed up!=p

I was put on lexapro when I was diagnosed with anorexia. It helped sooooo much with my recovery and all the anxiety surrounding getting better. It is hard to tell if the lexapro had anything to do with my weight gain, (I take 20mg everyday) but I did gain my weight back pretty quickly. Sorry I couln't be more help.
