How long did it take people here to see progress at the beginning?
I know I am only in my 2nd week of using this site but I was wondering.
Before I started here I would eat maybe one or two meals a day, stuff my face, no portion sizes, and I never ate fruits and vegetables except for salad maybe once a day.
I am eating 1400 cals a day. Between my cals for the day and my burn meter what's a healthy difference in the two to lose 1-2 pounds a week? I read somewhere 500 -1000, just wanted to get direct answers again.
Ladies: the few days before your cycle and few days after will the scale go up a bit? One morning I was 138.2 and then the next morning I was 139.2
Thanks to those who answer my many questions :)
Progress is what you make of it (eating portion controls, variety of fruits and veggies and exercise). Those factors will allow you to determine how much you are going to loose in a week. The next question you had was how many calories do you need to deficit to loose 1-2 lbs a week.
3500 calories is the total deficit per week to loose a lb which equals 500 calories a day. Too loose 1.5 lbs you need to deficit 750 calories per day. and finally to loose 2 lbs you need to deficit 1000 calories per day. You do not accomplish this by doing without food! You accomplish this by movement/activity.
And the final question about scales reading differently. These are the factors you need to consider.
Time of day, same scale, same clothing (EXACTLY) and make sure your body is ridded of any wastes as odd as it sounds that can add weight. Watching your sodium consumption is also very important, it makes you retain water and yes you do have as much as a 5 lb weight gain during your cycle (that is just the way it is for some women). Sorry to break that news to you. This happens to me!
Read this article and I hope you find it useful.

If you have any other questions I'll try to help just PM me.
Thanks.
As per my weighing. I do it at the same time of day, same scale and same clothing.
And thanks also about the cycle info. The weight you gain during your cycle goes away after the cycle?
Hi there
I have also just started and i've cut out lots and also exercising a lot more. (I've only just finshed my first week.) I have just weighed myself and I am the same
even though I feel and lot better.
Any words of wisdom?
Laineyq,
For some when you start eating healthy and doing all the right things your body is trying to figure out what's going on and it holds onto what it has until it feels it's ok to let go. Some people have gained a little even. If you keep it up your body realize it doesn't need to panic and let go of some weight.
Many times when you hit a stall, when a loss does come, it can be a nice one.
I can't say it more...keep up doing the right things!!!![]()
Thank you vklamorick
This is what I need movitation, and I thought I was doing so well that I would see a great loss. No such luck. I will keep at it and fingers crossed you are right. My eating habits before were not great. I'd skip breakfast and sometimes lunch but eat a huge dinner. I've really changed that and feel good, so much less bloated.
What is a quick way to burn calories?
