Project Runway: Season 5

Ok.  I absolutely adore this show, but don't have anyone to talk to about it.

I searched, and no existing threads popped up for this season, so I'm starting one.

Did anyone watch last night? I totally thought the simple black skirt and blouse should have won. I would totally wear that, I loved the lines, and how it so clearly communicated the picture image.  That purple and teal thing was just ick.  Looked like something Barbie would wear.

What do you all think?  Any favorite designers yet?

So... the first cut, was so scray I giggled nervously every time the showed it. I was afraid that guy was going to send the model to dispose of the bodies after the show.

Oh, and last night. FTW!!! I loved the dress last night that was in the bottom two but didn't get cut. I guess I'm matronly. I thought it was hot -- the hem just needed finishing. Bummer, I'm an old fogey.

Oh, and favorites... I'm still witholding judgement. But I agree with you about the Barbie dress. I liked her boldness and the shape of the skirt, but didn't like the print of the material or the puff in the sholders. I liked the black dress you liked as well.

I would have liked the girl that got sent home's dress if she hadn't done the ruffles but just build in a big streak of color that followed the same path of her ruffles -- I don't know if that makes sense or not.

And I wasn't so hot on the "fierce" graffiti woman's dress/pants thing. I don't get it apparently. All the judges "wanted to know who she was" and I saw it and wondered why she wanted to wear pants under skirts when that look is so played out and unflattering on.....everyone.

Yeah, and she kept talking about this dramatic "backless dress", and then it came out, it just looked like a normal scoop back to me.

Suede really needs to stop talking in the third person, it is so annoying.  I think I like the girl who won the 1st week with the vacuum cleaner bags.  But I agree, I can never pick who I like until it thins down to top 10, there's way too many people to keep track of.

Suede thinks Suede is cool.  Gosh, that is so annoying.  Some how he will end up staying around just because he is annoying. (I do know his name though, guess he has that working for him)

I agree I liked the black dress and the winner looked like something a barbie would wear.  I didn't understand why she won.  Maybe they didn't want to give the person with the black dress immunity, since she was in the bottom the week before?

OK.. I am a loser!  I totally forgot it was on last night!! NOOOO!!!! I have to check my DVR to see if it got recorded!  *grumbles off to complain verbally**

Suede's third person dialogue is annoying.

Blayne will keep dermotologists employed.

Honestly I'm amazed at all the emo-hair I see on the designers.

The rocker woman's stuff just doesn't appeal to me.

I didn't see it last night, but I like Kelli in the first two, Blayne is kind of crazy but I think he is sooo creative and hope he stays on the show for a bit at least :)

Now off to see when its replaying!

Last night's episode is on at 8pm eastern time on Bravo tonight if you missed it!

Everything on Bravo repeats like a thousand times, so you shouldn't have any trouble catching it.  :)

Any body else every have the sound mess up?  This season has been okay, but in season's past... sometimes the music is real loud and i can barely hear what they are saying.  Is it just my cable network or is that a problem with Bravo?

I missed the episode last night because I worked until 2130 and it comes on at 2100, but so far with this season I'm a little surprise.  Seasons three and four there were some very good seamstresses on the show.  Not just designers, but their sewing looked amasing.  Yet the first two episodes of this season (granted one was with grocery store items), I'm a little disappointed at the quality of the garments.

I'm hoping as the season goes on and they weed out the not-so-great designers the quality of the garments will improve and we'll see some more wearable designs, not inside-out dresses.

Yeah, I agree.  Especially when they were all working with satin last week.  Yes, I know, satin is hard... but you would think if you were a designer, you would have learned to sew with it by now?

I think it's hard to judge anyone this early, because they only really give air time to people that are loud.  There may be some great quiet little seamstress that we haven't seen yet!

Although, when you watch this episode (I'm sure it will rerun 1,000 times), from the distance I was watching it, I think the black little number that was in 2nd place looked well constructed.

Could not agree with you more! I would buy that outfit in a heartbeat as Heidi also said.

I like the "Holla at yo boy" guy. I don't like him as a designer that much, the only reason I want him to stay on is because he's cute and funny. I pretty much died when Tim Gun tried to say his phrase.

I think the leather rocker chic needs to get kicked off. Her first "dress" was just taped on garbage bags. I can't stand her cliché-goth-Hot Topic ripoff clothes. 

I adored seeing Tim Gunn saying "holla."  That was so.... it was cute and embarrassing at the same time... just enough to make you love it but like "lurve" or "greater than 3" it.  You know, ultra played out, overly trendy, and too cute.

I think Leann is just a total weirdo. She needs to go too. Although her black skirt and top was really nice and should have won this round. 

Is it just me or is this season, just not as... I don't know, it's missing something or is it just too early? Maybe I was spoiled by Christian? I adored last season, didn't miss an episode.

I was really happy when Christian won last season even though at first he was a real little *BEEP*. Then he seemed to learn his lesson and stopped pouting around the middle and got more serious. Then by the end he was so humble and afraid (for Christian anyway), it was so cute. I miss his little "Fierce"capades.

Even though you'd have to be like a size 0 to wear his stuff, if you can it looks fabulous. (my favorite outfit was the one he made after the MET challenge)

Oh and blaiyn, please take your little diaper making tanorexic self and go away. Suede is at least funny, you make me want to end myself...

Stefanie thinks that Suede is great. Stefanie likes that he talks in the third person. Stefanie doesn't think that's weird.

I hate picking a favorite. Its like guys watching football ("If I wear these socks, they will win the playoffs!") When I pick a favorite, they get voted off. ANY SHOW, it doesn't matter. Runway, Shear Genius, So you think you can dance, ANTM, Idol, Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen,Survivor, Amazing Race, even freaking Legally Blonde: The search for Elle Woods. I pick a fave, they get voted off, then I pick a new fave, and they get voted off. The only people I ever loved that won were Christian from last season of Runway, Benji from SYTYCD (he was so hot when he danced), and Jaslene from ANTM.

Off Topic - Anyone know when the next season of amazing race is starting?
