Project Runway: Season 5
Ok. I absolutely adore this show, but don't have anyone to talk to about it.
I searched, and no existing threads popped up for this season, so I'm starting one.
Did anyone watch last night? I totally thought the simple black skirt and blouse should have won. I would totally wear that, I loved the lines, and how it so clearly communicated the picture image. That purple and teal thing was just ick. Looked like something Barbie would wear.
What do you all think? Any favorite designers yet?
Kind of off topic but I thought Wesley was quite attractive xD.
And yay for new episode tonight!
Its all ready to record on the tivo .. we watch it right after it gets over, but we can skip the commercials!
ok where is grunge girl from? her accent is the strangest conglomerate i have ever heard!!
My uncle's niece got on this season! My uncle is married into the family, and I don't know his immediate family (it's his brother's daughter) so I don't really know her at all but it's pretty cool none-the-less.
EDIT: Here she is! Jennifer. http://www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway/season/ 5/bios/bios.php?designer=jennifer
So, what did you all think of last night's episode?
I thought it was kinda' ho hum. It was quite amusing how many people missed the concept of "sportswear", and just did their own thing.
I liked the one that won. I think I also would have liked the one with the short, if the front and the back were the same length.

Grunge girl is apparently from New York, I think.

Kevin from last season went to my high school. xD
As for my thoughts on last night's episode:
I didn't really like Korto's design. The top just seemed to lack shape. I preferred Joe's and Terri's.
Over all, even though a lot of the contestants didn't do "sports wear", I really liked most of the designs. Stella had a weird thing going on with her design around the stomach though.
Did anyone else have a hard time telling the difference between Leanne and Jennifer? I'm glad Jennifer left; I thought she should have gone instead of Emily last episode. I actually didn't think Emily's dress was that bad.
Yeah, I was confused about Emily last week. Nina said something like "I don't have any interest in seeing what else she will do".... but then they got rid of the other girl? I couldn't figure it out.
I actually did like that one dress with the hat (excuding the hat, that was awful). The dress itself had an intersting use of the patterned fabric.
I also kinda' like Tan-Man's outfit. The colors were a bit wrong, but I thought it would have been very wearable for the athletic women.

But then again, I have weird taste xD
Ok time to jump into the PR chat since work is boring.
I think Terri's outfit was the best, loved the blazer and the ruffly scarf. Sportswear+feminine+stylish.
I would have liked Joe's the best because it was the sportiest, but the skirt was a mess. If he was doing a skort he should have done the kind that just looks like a little skirt, but has shorts underneath. Plus the USA thing he had on the side looked like a 10 year old made it.
I kind of liked Jennifer's design if she would have just made it red, white and blue, she probably would have been safe.
I'm surprised nobody incorporated the olympic rings in their design, that would have been cool.
I thought the floppy hat outfit was interesting, but agree with the judges that it was too costumey. You put that on a 4'9 gymnast or a 200 lb shotputter and they're gonna look ridiculous.
I liked Terri's outfit too... but there was one thing no one commented on. The tube top looked WAY too low, and her boobs were like bursting out of the top of it. I think she placed the scarf very strategically to hide that. I think it would be cute.... but if she made a cami version to avoid nip slip.
I think nip slip is patriotic. It shows that American women are proud and not afraid to show it. That's what the Olympics are all about.
Haha. So, next time my wraparound dress causes a peep show situation at work, I should just say I'm being patriotic?! ;)
Maybe if I had the American Flag pasties, I could totally argue that point. Haha.
P.S. I looked at the outfits again on Bravotv.com, and I think Terri's would be the most flattering for the most people.
Originally I was thinking I'd do a Wonder Woman outfit when they first described the challenge (until Daniel stole my idea) but now I'm thinking American flag pasties with sparklers at the tips would be the way to go.
God bless the USA.
So, I must have no fashion sense.... because I liked the 2nd runner up dress SO much more than the dress that won. This is like the 4th week in a row I liked the 2nd runner up better than the winner.
I thought that dress looked classy and sophisticated. I could totally see a high powered woman wearing that to work, and then going out.
That "thing" that won.... do you know how stupid someone would look wearing it to work? I love the blouse part, with the sleeves that came down for evening, but the skirt would just be retarded in an office setting.
I'm also sad that Kelli got voted off. Yes, her dress was tacky, and cheap looking... but she has made some other good things, I would have liked to see her stick around longer.
And Kenley... she needs to stop being so full of herself. She's so annoying. Her looks is so tired, I'm over it.

I also liked Jerell's design better than Keith's. Although, I have to admit I liked the skirt of Keith's better than the top. I thought the colour combo was a bit off.
I was also sad to see Kelli go - I thought it was going to be between Daniel and Blayne. I admit, her colour choice and taste for this particular piece were a bit off but she also won the first challenge. Daniel seems to have lost his edge and is now off his rocker. He looks as if he's having a mental breakdown.
Did any one else notice that in the beginning of the episode, Suede actually referred to himself in first person? xD

I DID notice that... but it was only while talking with the client. :)

No no! He actually did it before then, too. Like when they do those little one on one things and they share commentary.
Oooh, I didn't notice that then. I wonder if people told him to cut it out, since it was so annoying.
He definitely had a lot of his "spunk" deflated this episode.
I roffled at Terri's "I don't know what he's packing, balls or vajayjay, but he needs to work that out 'cause I ain't got no babies, ain't no body sucking on my titties" comment xD.
(I wonder how much of that is going to get censored.)
Yeah, Terri's comment about her titties was the best line of the night.
I also preferred the runner up outfit, but thought both were nice. Just thought the leather belt and the whole outfit fit the description of the character better.
Some other observations...Jerrell kvetching about the opportunity to have his design seen on national tv...hello? All of your outfits are about to be shown on national TV whether you win or not. And I bet there are more people watching PR than Lipstick Jungle. I mean seriously, that show will probably be cancelled before Brooke Shields gets fitted for the winning outfit.
In our little PR watching group we called the winner and loser based on the judges comments because they were way too complimentary of Jerrell's outfit. They always do that. Whenever Heidi says she would wear something or she wants to own an outfit it never wins. When Nina Garcia questions your taste level, it is the kiss of death.
Can't wait for the drag challenge next week, it's gonna be awesome!!!!!!! I <3 big gay Chris and his big gay giggle.
