When browsing for a book on nutrition last night (because I'm a nerd and calorie counting has gotten me interested in nutrition in general), a man in the aisle asked me if I was dieting and what I had done to lose weight. I immediately launched into C-C promotion and he said he would check it out when he got home. Then this morning while talking to my friend, she mentioned how she needed to lose weight and I immediately helped set her up with an account on here. I've turned into a C-C pimp! But it's great to know that more people might be turning to healthy lifestyles and losing excess baggage.
In other news, I managed to stay on track during the Stress Week of Doom, but now that it's the weekend and I can relax, it feels like I've forgotten how to eat. I had to eat two tbsp of peanut butter and a banana late last night to push me over 1200 and today I've eaten only 284, I've exercised (300 cal), it's 6 PM and I'm *not hungry*. I can't seem to make myself eat anything. Advice?

good job on the promoting! Great job on getting interested in Nutrition! Im planning to go back to school myself for nutrition. :)
as far as not eating, we all have those Im not hungry days but you need to eat something. How about a peanut butter sandwich? That would give you like 300 cals depending on the type of bread. or how about a smoothie? The yogurt and fruit would give you lots of vitamins, good to drink and should load up some calories for you. You dont want to get hungry come 8 or 9 and eat everything in site! Trying to think of small items that punch lots of cals! what about an energy bar? Just try to eat something to get you to at least 700 cals. One day isnt going to hurt you but you dont make it a habit.

Days that I do all of my own food (ie no cakes appear at morning tea, or no eating out) I find it hard to get to the 1200 mark. I have started carrying 100 cal packs with nuts, dried fruit and cheese to try and get me over the mark.
I find that I am not hungry when I eat properly, but if I have foods high in sugars my appetite is kicked off!
One thing I really hate doing is getting to 7 pm with a 500 cal defecit - I dont like going to bed with a full stomach.

my problem is when i'm out.. if i don't know the calories in something i eat very very little of it and then when i get home and add them up i find i'm 300 or 400 calories short.. then i have to have something. hehe.. :)
i agree.. heatlhy food is so much more filling than junk.. or it keeps me full longer.. so i don't want anymore.. i'm starting to now eat when i'm not hungry or i wind up at 7:00 at night with a huge deficite.. *sigh* it's never just the same every day is it..

Did you find a good book on Nutrition?
I know I was looking myself (I despise diet books. I want a book that tells me what and how much I need to be healthy and where to get those vitamins, minerals, and such) a couple weeks back and the best I found was "Nutrition for Dummies..." which... looked pretty dumbed down.
Also I agree.. healthy food is the way to go. I once lost 55 lbs. by eating crap (My mother, who was not helpful to my diet kept cake, coffee cake and ice cream sandwhiches in the house i was EXPECTED to help eat. And I did.. and.. I lost weight, but slower than I am now by eating smartly (alot of vegetables, some bread and a relatively little amount of as-close-to-greaseless-as-possible meat)
I think it's been part of why it's been so easy for me to lose weight.

What? do I hear people complaining about not being able to eat all their food? Amazing isn't it. I too have become a salesperson for this site. The truth is so important to get out. You have to eat but not the crap that is being sold to us. Packaged diet stuff, fast foods, weight loss pills, fad diets. Billion dollar industry.
It is so simple that we couldn't see it through the glitz....eat what nature has provided for us.
shaking my head in disbelief

I know how you feel about having to push yourself to get the calories. At first, when I saw that I was only going to have 1200 calories a day, i freaked! I thought, "Im going to starve to death" But all the veggies and fruit are super filling! Not to mention my diet coke obsesion. When I have trouble getting in all my calories, and Im just not hungry, I drink... lol..... Juice! or milk. Somthing good for me that I can sip on instead of eat. And I also know about being a pimp for C C. Ive told all my friends. Ive been pushing it to everyone! but its a great place, and Im proud to do it.
slappy - thanks for the sandwich and smoothie idea! I took it and modified, getting something from subway and a frappe - figured since I used to be addicted to mocha frappes and I hadn't had one in months I could use up my excess calories and enjoy myself. So now I'm over 1000 calories and had my junk food splurge for the week! (The smoothie would have been so much healthier but...just couldn't resist!)
hkellick - I had to wade through tons of diet books (The L.A. Diet! No Carb! etc...ugh) and found the American Dietetic Association's Complete Food and Nutrition Guide by Roberta Larson Duyff. 25 dollars - not sure if it's any good yet, but it looks like it has potential. When I get time to really read it, I'll post here if it's any good.

I love it!!----"I've turned into a C-C pimp!"
I am totally there with you!! I think I have told everyone I know about this site and what I am doing.

I was lent a book about nutrition and fitness today. It's by the Mayo Clinic people, so I'm hoping it'll have some good advice. I'll have to be sure to take notes, so I'll remember everything I need once I have to give it back!
I've tried recommending this site to friends, but I don't know whether any of them have actually been using it or not. I know one of my housies said she didn't wanna count calories because she thinks that's obsessive, though -_- . Hopefully some of the others are trying it, though, even if I haven't seen them posting around here so far.
