Proper introduction..
I know I have asked many questions yesterday but I forgot to formally say hello to you all! I'm a newbie obviously...and I'm just praying that the calorie counting works! I was trying diet pills along with eating less/and less junk, I walk daily so I'm not completely immobile lol but nothing would come off. I really hope that this works...if it doesn't, I'll be so sad!!
Hi cola, nice to meet you. And yes, calorie counting works!
Thanks!!
i really need to figure out what foods fill me up, so far today for breakfast i had a yogurt, some strawberries, a cheesestick, then snacked on an orange later, and just had a bit of broccoli with a little bit of ranch. i can't for the life of me think of what to snack on lol
try something with some whole grain fibre for lasting power - whole grain toast or pita perhaps at breakfast?
veggies are great snacks! and cheese too! Try cucumber slices with light feta cheese smushed between like a sandwich - YUMMY!
yogurt with granola is one of my favs.
apple slices with some peanut butter.
homemade muffins.
triscuit crackers with a sprinkle of grated cheese, garlic powder, sliced cherry tomato and a dash of basil microwaved for a couple seconds to melt the cheese = divine!
air popped popcorn!

oh those sound wonderful! what is air popped popcorn exactly? not microwave? i was thinking of getting some sort of low carb bread to have with some peanut butter for breakfast.
Hi cola - So far in my case, the CC has been working. For the first 3 days, I just ate what I normally did, and never realized how many calories I had been consuming - 2500+ mostly from snacking and happy hours. Now I try to stay in the 1500-1700 range and log my meals religiously (sometimes even ahead of time so I stick to it) and it's amazing how much you can eat if you just make wise choices. In 3 weeks, I'm down 5.5 pounds (slow and steady) and I'm happily surprised to say it hasn't been that hard at all. I think I can stick with this new lifestyle. Don't give up - with the help of this site and everyone's input and support, you can do it!
I find an avocado on toast as a super filling and super lasting breakfast. And it has really grown on me. I liked it when I started but LOVE it now and crave it often.
I stuck to the CC plan and started a vigorous exercise plan last year. I went from 238 to 190. My BP came down as well as cholesterol. I feel great. Just keep at it and learn the right foods and portions to eat. Read the advice columns by "Mary" and the blog...very helpful.
Air popped popcorn is cooked in the microwave (oven also works but takes forever). You just buy plain, dried whole corn grains in bulk, and pop them in a sealed paper bag or microwave safe dish with a heavy lid on, just like you would with prepackaged popcorn. Only the prepackaged kind is drenched in butter and oil, and very high cal. Air-popped is painfully low-cal (20 cals/cup cooked or something like that), and you can season it to your liking. There are tons of ideas on the forums you can try!
Also, a favourite snack of mine is shelled pumpkin/sunflower seeds. Removing the shells keeps you busy so a handful goes a very long way. :) Plus they have the good kind of fats, that keep bad cholesterol down and aid in weight loss, as well as protein, which makes you full longer. :)
I have an air-popper machine specifically for making popcorn. I can't say I've ever tried to microwave it... so certainly worth a try if you don't have the air popper machine.
just so you know - low carb does not always equal weight loss! Make sure you are getting high fibre whole grain carbs - those are the most healthy for you! Sometimes people will choose to go with the low cal breads so that they can eat more bread - but I personally find it is better to stick with the ones I feel are higher quality grains and get a little more nutrition out of what I eat.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
