I am still unengaged.. but with my SO for 2.5 years and getting the itch to be engaged... I want to get proposed to on a horse drawn carriage with the snow softlyfalling at dusk... magical.. OR at a Phillies World Series game.. o wait that already happened... YEAH PHILS!

I'll share, but it was rather uneventful.

We met through the drive thru lane. Dated for 6 months, lived together for 3 years. One day at the kitchen table he said. "So what do you think about getting married?" My reply, are you asking. Yep he was asking so we went out and picked out a ring. It's been wonderful. I was the girl who always dreamed of the big engagement and huge wedding. Well, you saw how my engagement went and my wedding happened on a Friday night on the coldest day in Jan. many moons ago. My reception was in my living room, which I spent all day preparing. We saved our money to buy a house and now it's totally paid for and will sell it at a big profit. So sometimes the fairy tale isn't the "right" fairy tale. I'm over the whole big wedding thing. Though not without some stomping around. hee hee

I think it's the title of the thread that's turning me off from answering.

Mine is embarrassing and I don't think I would share it with our future children. We were lying together in bed unclothed and just cuddling..HAHA..and he went over to get a box hidden in the room which had the ring in it and he asked me to marry him right there. LMAO.

Oh man..that's a wacked out story. We had been together at the time for 5 months. We have been together now and living together for over a year. The engagement is going to be a long one. Might not even be married for 5 more years. We are mostly focused on getting our lives together first.

My hubby took me out to the Plaza and a really fancy restaurant.  All through dinner he was acting...weird.  Then when they cleared off the table and brought the dessert menu, he asked me if I was going to order something.  I was kind of shocked because he always gave me grief for ordering dessert when I couldn't even finish the meal.  Anyway, when the cake came out, the ring was sitting on top of it.  Then he asked me.

He told me that his back-up plan (if I hadn't ordered dessert) was to take me across the street to this beautiful fountain and get down on one knee.

Either way would have been fine with me.  It was romantic.

Awww..that's really sweet peaches. Sounds like the perfect engagement.

I apparently failed before I even started. Wife says I was acting weird that day, not usual. I was more precoccupied with dinner than the show. Anyways, get through dinner, at a "fancy pizzaria" just before going to a show. K's just paying the bill, I take the ring out.. drop to my knees and asked her, starting with "I never could keep a secret from you..."

... cause I never could.

It was, silent.  It was everything I'd hoped for.

I must say though...that if we were naked in bed and he'd asked me, I still would have said yes without hesitation

Lmao...Peaches..Yeah, I mean we all have these fairytales in our heads when we are younger as to what we want certain romantic things in our lives to be like..sadly, it's  hardly ever played out like in the movies. When you love someone though you could care less how it's done as long as the right one finally asks you to be his for life. :)

My husband proposed at one of those fancy Christmas lights displays.  He took me to a private area and got down on one knee. 

 We go back every year to visit!

my unoffical one was when he asked me to go out with him...basically "I told you that I don't want to go out with any other woman that isn't goin to end up being my wife...knowing that, will you go out with me"   then the official proposal (after most of the wedding plans were made but he wanted to ask my dad for my hand in person before I got the ring) was over Christmas...we were watching White Christmas together and at the end of the movie he dropped to one knee and proposed and put the ring on my finger...
