You're better off just doing some good research on nutrition in general.  just increasing protien isn't going to help, necessarily.

What kind of diet are you on? are you vegetarian? what are your current %'s? High protien diets don't work unless you also reduce your carbs to under 150 or less.  I don't recommend Atkins.

How much do you want to lose? How much do you weigh now?

Protien is necessary for your body, but so are fat and carbs.  If you're getting at least 20% protein now, you're fine.
im about 145pounds

i have BED so my diet isnt that good! i dont eat cheese, meat, chicken, fish, eggs, beans ... i do eat yoghurt and eat about 200g cashew nuts every two days! (its my binge food)

thats why i wanted a lil info on protein! im busy trying to rebuild a healthy eating lifestyle!
twiggy, protein is not really meant to be burned as fuel, but is used to rebuild muscle, replace the cells in your blood (red cells that carry oxygen and white cells that fight infections), grow hair and nails and replace your skin (a new layer every week), etc, etc. etc. so it's an ESSENTIAL part of your diet, even though the calories in protein are not exactly the same as the calories in carbohydrates. they do get burned if you don't have enough fats and carbs, but that's not the best way to eat.

you could start by clicking on "library" at the top of this page, and read all the articles in there. they are very short and to the point, and will help you to begin to understand the complex process of metabolism. protein is not just to help you lose weight, but essential to have a healthy body.
hmmm

I don't eat a whole lot of meat either, so do eat a lot of tofu and various morningstar products (I'm practically a shill for them)

Veggie hot dogs have 9 g protein and just 45 cals, Veg sausage patties have 8 g protein, I think, as do their little sausage links.  They're low fat and reasonably high protein.

How many calories do you get in a day?
Well im on Day 4 binge free. Im only eating veggies and fruit at the moment. So I don?t think I get more than 600 cal a day. Before this I was eating over 3000 cal a day. I restricted myself so much that I became to scared to eat meat and eggs. The last time I ate protein was last Friday! I had tofu at a tai restaurant and had cashews for a snack
ack.

You ARE planning on getting your calories up to at least 1200 a day, aren't you?

Keep adding, 100 calories a day at a time until you get back up there.  600 a day is NOT HEALTHY!.  I know it's tempting when you eat too much one day, and try to make up for it the next, but this just feeds into a very bad yo-yo cycle.

Pick up some morningstar sausage links and eat one (40 calories each) when you feel like it.  Eat egg whites if you can, and throw away the yolk.  It sounds like you need some fat in your diet though - cashews are good, yes, but so are sunflower seeds and walnuts.  Try having a salad with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.  It's good that you're eating fruits and veggies, but you really do need more calories : (.
you are right! im going to cause alot of damage. thank you. i have really taken your advice seriously
