the best ones for me are light tuna (water pack), salmon, boiled egg whites, lowfat string cheese, nonfat yogurt, nonfat cottage cheese, sardines, lean chicken and turkey!
Be careful on things like nuts and peanut butter. They're okay once in a while, in small doses, but they can really make the fat content shoot up -_- . I'm trying to stay more on chicken and low-fat dairy, and am trying to get back into eating beans. Might need to invest in some Beano for that -_-;;; . . .
Lean chicken and fish are GREAT proteins. What i liked to do is buy frozen tuna or salmon steaks (usually just 1/4 lb steaks) and broil them and top my salad. That way I get my green veggies AND a good source of protein at the same time. This is a heck of a lunch and would make a great dinner too. As someone else said, avoid nuts in excess, cause they really are very fatty. I recommend if you eat nuts, planters makes a "heart healthy" mix that contains cashews, pistachios, peanuts, walnuts, and hazlenuts. Theyre high in protein, flavor, and contain heart healthy fats.
everyone is always so quick with protein answers...but what about for vegetarians? I don't eat any meat, fish, or eggs. I eat a lot of meatless alternatives (fake ground beef, sandwich slices etc) and a lot of tofu, but it's really hard. i mean...tofu gets pretty boring. even in rice..stir frys etc.
beans would be a good vegan option wetdogsmell.. they fill you up nicely.. have a bunch of protein and lots of fiber.. i'm not a vegetarian but i have cut down alot on the meat and have been adding in beans in some dishes.. mmm.. beyond that i'm not sure..
Peanut butter, dairy, eggs.
i eat peanut butter, i love it, but there's so much sugar. i mean, even in most of the reduced sugar kinds. but i'll be honest, the only kind of peanut butter i will ever eat is kraft light smooth. i love it.
Tuna, lean red meat (93%+ lean), roasted skinless turkey (real turkey,
not processed deli meat), chicken breasts (grilled), beans (black
beans, kidney beans, garbonzo, lentils, etc).
Unless you are trying to body build and pack on muscle, it's really not necessary for you to have much more than 15-21% of your intake to be proteins.
