Protein powder ideas!
Any ideas on what types of meals or snacks I can create with chocolate or vanilla protein powder?
With vanilla I mix a crystal light packet in with water and ice... You get a smoothie texture with a fruity kick depending on what packet you put in. I like the raspberry or lemonade....
Which chocolate- I sometimes mix a T. of PB@2 - the powdered peanut butter- and it tastes like a peanut butter cup.
Sounds great. Where can I buy PB2, I can't seem to find it anywhere!
I like to make a big glass of hot coco with my chocolate or cookies and creme protein powder. But watch heating it too much, the protein in it seem to stick together and makes it kind of chunky.
I love added it to my rolled oats. You will need a bit more water though. About 3tbsp per 30g of protein powder. I stir it in after I nuke it.
I used it to make my own protein bars. I made them with oatmeal, milk, chopped pecans, and nutella, and then threw in protein powder. They were pretty good as meal replacements but I put too much nutella in them so they were pretty fattening.
I just have to second the PB2 with chocolate protein. That is really really good. Especially if you are a peanut butter enthusiast. And you can get it online, there are a couple stores across the U.S. but it was easier for me to order some than to drive to Ohio! The only grocery store that I've found to carry PB2 is the military commissary. So if you are in the military you can check there otherwise I'd go to their website: www.bellplantation.com
Why use protein powder ? What does it acheive?
Here is weird but good one.. 1 cup of baked sweet potato, 2 scoops vanillia protein, 2 egg whites, tsp baking powder, vanillia and cin to taste. Bake in the oven at 350 for about 20 min and it makes 2 servings of a sweet potato cake :)
I also like to make smoothies with frozen fruit, water and vanilla protein. the frozen fruit is perfect for making it a good consistency.
Great ideas, thanx! :)
For Chocolate: Mix it into vanilla or plain yogurt, add sliced banana or berries, granola, peanut butter, or nuts. Its also pretty good in oatmeal with sliced strawberries or banana and some peanut butter. You can also add it into a hot cocoa for an extra boost, or stir it into your coffee to make it a mocha.
You can also use chocolate protein powder to replace cocoa powder in recipes. And vanilla can easily be mixed into any recipe for a muffin or a cookie. And actually, both could really be added to any cereal you might fancy. Depending on the strength of the vanilla flavor, you can usually mix it into mashed potatoes or a cream sauce.
