i have hit the major plateu. and have tried everything to break it.... and i want to increase my protein and was wondering what you eat or take for more protein.... i cant eat too many nuts, and getting tired of eggs, i think more as a snack..... like have you tried the protein powder? how do you use it, mixed with water?? all comments greatly accepted.... thanks!
Inceasing protien? eat meat, peanut butter, blah blah blah all those typical foods.
I'm a student nurse, and I would recommend a fiber supplement. It is best to take it in the morning when you wake up, if you take it at night you can fet severe constipation.
I can't tell how old you are from that picture, but any woman over 35 should take calcium too. If you are looking to get pregnant you should look into taking folic acid also.
Vitamin supplements are a waste of money, so I would not invest in those. You pee out all the vitamins since the vitamins you would take in from your diet are the only ones in the supplement pills.
So yeah, I got a little off track, but I would recommend a fiber supplement, like a pill. You can get them basically at any grocery store or pharmacy. But if you want more insight ask your doctor, or a dietition or nutritionist.

Here's what my meal plan for today looks like - I've got 170 grams of protein in there ... The Healthy Grain bagels are from Western Bagel and have 18g of protein, AND they taste fantastic with 1/2 TBS PB on each half (I eat the whole thing with 1 TBS PB total), and the TJ's protein powder mixes with cold water (and when I throw in 2 packets of Splenda it's yummy). I typically eat a lot of chicken, fish and lean red meats, wholegrain crackers and bread, and a lot of veggies. Also, they aren't on today's menu, but edamame (soy) beans and 0% fat Greek yogurt (both at Trader Joe's at a good price) have a ton of protein. Hope this helps! (This clocks in at about 1500 cals.)

Breakfast The Perfect 10 Bagel Healthy Grain - Grocery Store Products, Skippy Reduced Fat SuperChunk Peanut Butter (1 TBS), Bananas

katie002, i already do a fiber pill..... and eat lots of fiber..... i am over 35 and get my calcium too.... i just looking to increase protein for a week or two to see if that will break this wall....
tattooed_kitty, i live in a very small town. very limited to slection...... and there is no trader joes around for miles and miles.....
Well then, honestly, your just going to have to shovel it in. If you are just looking to get extra protein then your just going to have to eat more protein right foods. With a limited selection I'm sory to say, but your diet is going to get boring :( Try to eat something protein rich with almost every meal.
you can get about 50-70g of protein per peice of fish or meat you consume. some that i eat are: ahi tuna, salmon fillet, rainbow trout, lean steak, extra lean ground beef, large pieces of chicken breast.
you can squeeze in 100-150 g of protein in your daily diet, depending on your caloric intake.
Have you thought about using a protein powder to make a protein drink? Look for one high in protein, low in carbs and fats.
A good powder would have at least 20 - 25 mg. of protein per serving. Then you can, if you like add some egg whites (the ones in the cartons are pasturized and you CAN eat them raw, like in your shake).
The rest is really up to you. Add some fruit yogurt or if you're really watching and counting calories, just water or skim milk.
I know I find it difficult to consume in foods enough protein as I work out about 4-5x a week and do weight training on all those days as well as cardio.'
hope this helps out a bit.
p.s. to anyone out there who says eating proper foods for protein is the best way to go. I know! I find it difficult to eat that much protein every day on a regular basis.
i know it is hard to eat that much protien and watchin cals and fat.... i get to go to a big town today, so going to look for that protein powder.... thanks for the info...... it helps me to know how much protein per serving to look for..... but raw egg whites? sorry not for me...... now if i didnt know it mite be ok..... my eggs have to be fully cooked.... maybe see if i can find protein shakes.... are they good??
thanks again
You could try low fat/fat free cottage cheese as a snack. 1/2 cup is usually approx 100 calories and approx 14 grams of protein. Add a little bit of fresh fruit or fat free yogurt if you do not like the taste or a splenda packet and some cinnamon to flavour it.
I have just started protein shakes yesterday as an occasional snack but they are fairly calorie heavy so it depends on how I am doing for the day calorie wise as to what snack I choose.
