Nothing will happen, as long as you don't deprive yourself of other nutrients.
I wont gain if I have more that 85 grams?

You can only gain if you eat too much food, regardless of what type it is.
Oh great- thank you!
Not to start anything, but I believe that protein needs are based on how much you weigh, too.

To find out the minimum amount of protein you should be getting, multiply your weight in kg by 0.8.

So, here's how a 150 lb person would find out how much protein they should consume: 150 lbs = 68kg x 0.8 = 54g protein minimum.

I was told by a nutritionist that 20% of the daily calories should be from protein.

So 20% of 1700 = 340 calories. Each gram of protein is 4 calories, so take 340/4 = 85 g of protein.

The formula you used is often used by vegans to justify their protein deficiency, because it's harder for them to get enough without trying really hard. There is a Vegan bodybuilder who flat out admits that the 0.8/kg of bodyweight formula won't provide adequate protein for anyone who isn't completely sedentary.
Wow- good to know. thanks for your help
Too much protein leads to a calcium deficiency over time--osteoporosis.
