Protein Shake recommendations??

Quote  |  Reply

Can anyone recommend a good protein shake  that is low in sugar, tastes relatively good and keeps you full?

Thanks!

One of my favorites if I'm in a hurry and need something portable for breakfast:

One banana

One scoop of whey protein

~1/2 c plain yogurt

1 Tbs peanut butter

2 tsp cocoa powder (the unsweetened, baking variety)

Top off the container with milk (I use a magic bullet for smoothies), say ~1/2 c

Assuming low-fat milk and yogurt and natural, no-sugar-added peanut butter, this is about 460 calories, 14 g fat, 38 g protein and 50 g carbs (33 g sugar, mostly from the banana). It's very filling. I suppose you could cut down on the sugar by only using half a banana, but I think that's what makes it both so filling and so tasty.

I use Choc Almond Breeze Milk and add 1 scoop of Egg protein powder. (since I have dairy, whey and soy allergies).  It's really good, delivers 24 grams of protein, and relatively low in sugar.  It keeps me going till about noon.
