Kellogg's K2O claims to help with hunger because its a protein water drink.  Does this work? Anyone who has tried it please let us know how it worked. The label says 14g or Carbs. I may try some.

If you need protein, get it from foods.

Example Sources of Proteins:
Oily fish - eg salmon, pilchard, mackerel
Red meats - eg beef, lamb
White meats - eg chicken, turkey
Legumes, pulses - eg chickpeas, beans of all types, lentils
Seeds - eg sunflower, flax, pumpkin
Nuts - eg walnuts, almonds
Nut butters - eg peanut, cashew, almond
Certain grains - eg quinoa, oats
Soy - eg tofu, soy beans, soy derived products
Dairy - (when gaining, opt for whole fat) eg cheese, milk, ice cream

The water sounds like a fad product to me, and if there's 14g of carbs in it I bet you that's sugar. If you want to be full, eat a good balance of protein, carbs and healthy fats and a fruit/veg serving with every main meal and make up where you lack in snacks, and you shouldn't need a faddy-sounding energy drink!

It's a marketing thing. The water contains isolated protein, extracted in a lab somewhere. To curb hunger, drink real plain water and eat some yogurt, nuts, etc.

I've tried it.  I think it's gross, but then I used the powder mix and it doesn't mix well at all.  The only way it helped me with hunger was if that was what I was allowed to have if I was hungry, I would quickly decide I wasn't *that* hungry after all.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I bought the K20 protein water powder mix as i'm having trouble getting more protein in then fat and ughhh it taste nasty!

You can taste the chemicals in it bleh. Your right it doesnt mix well either.

I'm with lalabanana on this one. Best make 'real' foods our protein.

I'm late posting on this thread, but I just recently started using the K20 protein water.  I don't think it's gross, though I'm used to the Crystal Light water packets already.

I haven't had any trouble getting it to mix in.  I use a 20 oz. water bottle with a good amount of room at the top, shake it, let it sit for a minute or two, then shake it again.

I, too, think it is best to get your protein through "real" foods, but I'm constantly on the go, so that doesn't always work for me.  That, and I've found the protein water to be especially helpful in stopping the after-eating "hunger" that I get from years of overeating.  I know I've eaten enough, gotten enough calories and nutrients, but my stomach and my mind are used to more, so they get upset :).  Protein water keeps them at bay without causing any overeating damage to my body.

 

edit - Just don't try the pink lemonade - that one's gross!  I liked the strawberry kiwi.

It uses the tactic of labeling something which is essentially slightly diluted, non-carbonated pop or "fruit drink" as healthy or hunger-reducing by adding a little bit of something else to it, be it vitamins or a tiny amount of protein. It's the equivalent of drinking a small serving of Kool-Aid and eating a spoonful of protein powder with it.

 

I drink a about 6 oz in morning with my synthroid meds because I can't eat for an hour after. I don't know if it really helps or not, but at least I start with a little protein and not a lot of calories.

I just tried this today! It has 5g protein and 5g fiber, which is pretty good for filling you up, really. I have the little packets that are added to water; it needed a lot of mixing in and tasted pretty sweet to me (but I don't have a sweet tooth). Eventhough it didn't mix in completely (due to my laziness probably), there was no unpleasant texture or anything. I'm trying the strawberry kiwi flavor and it's not bad, overall. Not a substitute for food but definitely curbing my afternoon growlies.
