i am 14 years old, i am 5,7

weight about 125, somdays it goes to 129 and some days it goes to 123 :p

i work out about 2-3 hours

4 days a weak.

i never used protien shakes or protien powder or any thing to help me except eating food after i come after workout.

but recently i got this protien.

90% Protein Soy  http://www.weider.ca/product/90ProteinSoy.htm

its chocolate flavoured.

as you may see it has 25g of protien per serving...

i tried it and it tasted awfull with just skim milk, water...

sum people told me to add sugar to it. i did but then it almost made me throw up, probably cuz it was too sweat. My blender is broken so i can't mix other stuff like banana's etc...

is there anyway to make it taste better? please help.. i am going to go work out tomarrow and hopefully i can make a protien shake with your help.

The only thing I could suggest is to switch to another brand. I use Cytosport Monster Milk (chocolate) and it tastes very good compared to others. Sometimes you just have to search around before you find something that gives you the benefits you want and the good taste too. However, with the Monster Milk, the powder tastes a whole lot better than the pre-made drinks in the little container.

I hope that helps...

drink it cold...ice cold...

Use milk over water...

don't add sugar its not needed...

Drink fastWink

After that, spend your coin on a new blender or mixing wand and start making your own shakes. I used any fruit I can find, (frozen bananas, mango, strawberries etc), milk, yogurt and egg whites for protien. In the end, its a heck of a lot cheaper than buying protien powder and prob more healthy. Get some coco powder (unsweeted) and mix it in sometimes.

Low in cals, and high in protien (depending on the No. of egg whites)

When a protein shake tastes bad, it is hard to fix. You can buy another type and cut in the bad tasting one slowly to save money.

You could borrow a blender until you get one...

Unfortunatly most protein powders taste bad, the few that taste good have a load of sweetners in them.

Any reason why you feel you need to buy protein supplement in the first place?

I like EAS vanilla.  It's good with water, milk, or in iced coffee.  But like robin says, it's gotta be COLD.

Agree. Protein powders taste nasty..it's why we add fruit [and why many smoothie bars at gyms add so much syrup/sugar.....which in turn is bad for ya...].  See if you can convince your parents to get a new blender and or do some extra chores to earn money to purchase one yourself..then add some fresh berries, banana, etc. I also do not like choc protein even if I love choc. I always use vanilla protein in my smoothies.

BUT...try to EAT [ie:eggs/egg whites, nuts, meat, soy - if youre a vegetarian, etc....] your protein..which is very easy to do, actually. I only have a smoothie when I get up in the AM bc it's VERY early and I'm not a morning person let alone one that wakes up hungry...or if I'm time pressed due to work demands. Since you probably aren't working...you should be able to find time to make yourself a pb and j or scrambled egg whites and a bagel...quite easily!

blend it with frozen fruit. possibly add a scoop of ovaltine. I'm trying to force myself to finish the nasty chocolate protein powder I bought. next time, buy vanilla. You can mask the flavor much more easily.

At my work we use a pretty good recipe for smoothies. There are different flavors. Mango (mangos and banana), strawberry twist (strawberries and banana), four berry (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries), and tropical (mango, banana, strawberry).

You put about four ounces or so of frozen fruit in a blender with 8 oz juice(orange for tropical type flavors, apple for berries) some vanilla yogurt (get a brand that doesn't have a ton of sugar in it), and sometimes some soy milk, and vanilla whey protein powder. Blend all that together unti smooth, then add ice and blend again until the ice is completely blended into the mixture. Its really yummy!

Hadn't tried that brand so it could just be that particular one, or even just that flavor.  I too find vanilla is easier to mask and I just mix mine in water with a couple ice cubes in my shaker bottle.  Saves me from needing a blender if I'm in a rush.  When I've got more time I do a lot of mix ins like others mentioned above.

I mix my GNC Whey chocolate protein powder with 1 cup of skinny cow fat free chocolate milk or the low claorie chocolate soy milk and its yuimmy.

I think the soy proteins all taste bad.  I have some soy protein powder that I tried everything to "fix up" to a tolerable taste but no luck.

also the Whey protein is better for you and the gnc brand is very easy to mix.

I have a cheap $15 little hamilton beach one spead blender thing with the container also serving as a covered "sippy" cup.

Have a look here, these is just a regular chocolate drink like nesquick

http://victorcaballero.com/nestle-nesquik-at- pasadena-marathon-expo/

http://caloriecount.about.com/chocolate-milk- perfect-post-workout-drink-ft145486

I dont use chocolate I use strawberry milk drink (prob doesnt have the same benefits of chocolate milk but I dont like the taste of chocolate milk)

I always add an egg white which I mix in with a fork, and then eat a banana  :)

I guess for extra protein you could just add your protein powder (dont know what strawberry/chocolate mix would taste like, but I often mix strawberry and banana milk drinks for a different taste.

SMOOTHIE KING, HAS A POWDER CALLED GLADIATOR, COMES IN VANILLA OR CHOCOLATE. IT'S LOW CARB , WITH 45 GRAMS OF PROTIEN. IT'S A MEAL REPLACEMENT DRINK THAT TASTE GREAT WITH WATER , SKIM MILK, I USE VANILLA LOW FAT SOY MILK. IF YOU THE VANILLA YOU CAN ADD ANTHING TO MAKE A YUMMY SMOOTHIE.  IF YOUR NOT TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT, GO FOR MUSLE MILK, CAKE BATTER FLAVOR. MY SON SAYS IT TASTE JUST LIKE WEDDING CAKE AND IT'S LOADED WITH PROTEIN.

GOOD LUCKSmile

It also comes in lite...just as much protein.

Personally, not a fan of muscle milk. Think it leaves a mutha of an aftertaste.

I'd still go with smoothies made with fresh fruit and vanilla protein.  BUT...eating your protein is still first choice.

Thanks alot for the replies, it means alot to me cuz, in the site there is someone who can give you advice :p

i am skinny for my height, cuz i am an athletic, i play basketbal, and i am pretty good at it, i am skinny and i just want to get some more weight, my goal over 3 months ia round 140 lbs, i am 127 now.

i take protien cuz, i go to ymca and its 10min drive... and walk is probably about 1h or so...

on ya btw, i tried this, and it seem to help but not sure if this is right.

i workout, and when i get thursty, i just drink a sip of 2 from the protien shake...

just wondering... if i should do that or just take the protien shake all at once after workout or just take a sip or 2 when i am thursty.

What do you eat before you work out? You have to eat before hand. If you don't, your body is going to burn through the fuel in the muscles [glycogen] first. Don't forget about before bedtime. There are various kinds of protein for various times of the day.

Casein [which can be purchased as a powder to make shakes, or just eat cottage cheese] is perfect before bed. Your body is starved between bedtime and breakfast and it catabolizes muscle.

I know, people always said don't eat before bed, but that's a fallacy. Same thing with "Don't eat after 6pm." Even worse!

Casein digests slowly and keeps your blood sugar even so you remain in an anabolic and repair and grow muscle while you sleep. You also tend to sleep much better when you have a belly full of casein slowly feeding you all night

Try Isopure, I love it!  I mix it with some soymilk and it tastes delicious.  Some of their great flavors include mint chocolate and dutch chocolate.  It is low in sugar and high in protein, 40 g per serving.  You can buy it at GNC.  Their website is www.naturesbest.com.  I personally only do a quarter of a serving at a time, which is half a scoop with 8 oz of soy milk, it still gets you to almost 20 g of protein. Also, as others have mentioend, having it super cold is very important.  Good luck!

Vanilla Whey protein is 210 calories with about 52g protein per serving.

Mixes with anything but water. Tastes amazing. Go for it. Trust me.

Your young and still growing, try and get your protein from real food. Protein powder isn't going to do a thing if your not get the right total amount of calories each day. Don't fixate on it or worry that for some reason it's now needed after a workout, because it isn't.

Oh thank you-- heck I don't get home from work and working out till almost 7 and dinner is usually at 7:30 and then to get my calories in I am still eating at 9.  I'm gonna start doing more cottage cheese late night- although the sodium is horrific

Bingo.  Whey protein during the day and casein right before I go to bed.  Try "Optimum 100% casein " protein.  I have the chocolate powder and its really good.  Try mixing in a little natural peanut butter.
