So lastnight I decided to try to jog a mile. Something I hadn't done since middle school. In middle school I used to run a high 7 minute mile....so prolly closer to 8. So I was really nervous to try lastnight...I don't like jogging in front of cars or people, just too self-conscious I suppose...

Either way I did it...& I finished it without stopping to rest...(well one time I did have to stop for like 5 seconds to let a car pass) but I did a 13:30 mile!

Yeah that's prolly really slow compared to other ppl but I am damn proud of myself! Starting my "weight loss journey" exactly 1 year & 2 days ago, if you told me then I'd be able to even jog HALF a mile in a year I would've laughed at you.

Today I also weighed in at 179.8 lbs. So as of this morning I am officially out of the "obese" category & in the "overweight" category...effing AWESOME coming from type 3 obese...or "morbidly obese"...I feel like a million dollars today!

Next mini goal is to get to 176 lbs...that'll be exactly 100 lbs gone!

I'm so stoked ~ I can't wait!

*edit* I was also particularly ecstatic when I finished that mile BECAUSE, days before I had tried, I mentioned wanting to try to my husband who told me that he couldn't do it in highschool....it was too hard, so I'm not going to be able to do it. Flat out told me I won't be able to do it. That's the 2nd thing I've showed him up & did when he said I wouldn't be able to do it.

Feels nice proving people wrong haha.

DCStar,

I know you don't know me, but I saw your post and just had to congratulate you for your progress.  At the moment the idea of walking a mile seems like a pipe dream.

Perhaps someday that'll be me.   Looking forward to seeing your name in the Success Stories Blog!!!!

Yeah!  That is great!  Isn't that such a good feeling, to be out of the Obese category?  That is such a nasty word.  I hate it when doctors say it.

Keep up the good work.  I'm right along with you, with this battle to lose weight.  Sounds like you've been suscessful with your weight loss (100 lbs, wow!).

texmom ~ thank you for the congrats =)))...& trust me, you'll get there too...I'm not sure where you're coming from but I'm a firm believer that you can honestly do anything you put your mind to. I believe that it will be you someday =)

jkjone ~ YES I HATED that word..."obese"...& it is an awesome feeling. Coming from the class 3 obesity range to overweight I can't even tell you how I feel right now. =) I will keep on keeping on & you do the same.

Good luck to both of you on your journeys! Thanks for your kind words =))

Thats freaking AWESOME. Congrats on your prgress, wow 100 lbs. I commend you. And out of the 180's! Wish i could do the same. Stuck at around  185 here. Have been for months. yikes. I cant wait to be out of the "obese" category. I am soon though!

That is awesome dcstar, you ought to feel proud! You go girl!!:)

congratulations!  Jogging a mile, losing all that weight, not "obese" anymore.

Way to go!

AW! I am so incredibly happy for you! Thanks for sharing. You are really inspiring! My goal is to one day be able to jog a whole mile. I couldn't even do it in middle school. Haha! But, I'll get there someday!!

That's amazing, congratulations!!  I'm running at the gym every day for around 2.65 - 3 miles, but I'd love to be able to just hit the pavement like that.  Have to wait, my knee is absolute crap.  Keep up the fantastic work!!

Yahoo - hooray for you!!  I started running too so I know it's not easy.

Isn't the sweat great though??

Awh thanks everybody =) I was trying hard not to gloat yesterday to everyone I talked to (because...for some strange reason, everyone was really happy for me when I FIRST started losing weight...now nobody really seems to care anymore? & are almost annoyed when I talk about it so I just don't anymore...) but I knew you guys would understand & be happy for me.

Thanks for all the encouraging words. I wish you all the best best best of luck also =)))

Man, you guys are awesome.

Hey, I still celebrate every single lost pound.  We know the blood, sweat and tears that are behind our efforts.  Why not celebrate and share success?  Personally, it helps me to hear about others succeeding, no matter how small the success.

Every pound is an achievement, that's how I see it.  So you should be proud of every one of those pounds you've lost.  I'm not 100% sure why people get so upset and don't want to hear it.  I think for some it's just boring, or they don't understand why we take pride in the little successes.  I think for a lot of people, they know they should be doing the same and are upset to see your progess.

I live with someone who constantly makes nasty remarks about my weight loss.  It was getting so old, I've stopped discussing it at home all together and will only discuss it with people who I know 1)will genuinely care that I am bettering myself, or 2)are in the same boat.  Though the plan has kind of backfired, she now makes nasty remarks about other aspects of my life.  Oh well!

Congratulations! I am so happy for you!

Listen here, a 13:30 mile is NOT bad by any means! I run all the time and stick to a 12:00 mile. So for you to go out and do that for the first time in, what, almost 10 years? That is nothing to scoff at.

You are so close to your goal and this is the perfect place to come gloat. I wish more people would! I love reading happy stories.

Congratulations!  That is awesome to here!

You deserve to be proud of yourself!Cool

Awesome work! You are very inspiring! One of my goals is to be able to run/jog! I haven't told anyone that because I figured they would think it's a funny thing to dream about being able to do. I am 45lbs under my heaviest weight and have decided to loose weight again. I have 100lbs or so to go!

Thank you for posting your positive landmarks! You are an inspiration!

Thanks for sharing,  you are a rock star!
