Anyone?
Hmm sch as Bipolar I or Bipolar II,Schizophrenia....
Everything I've read is the other way around - other mental disorders can include anorexia, not that anorexia causes mental disorders.

Why do you ask?
Really?  Because I would think that Anorexia can lead to other mental disorders, people who have Anorexia have other mental disorders, and/or people who have other mental disorders have Anorexia.

I've developed OCD and depression as a result of an eating disorder.
With what is happening to the body and the brain, I certainly don't see why psychiatric disorders wouldn't/couldn't develop. Of course, there's usually something wrong psychologically that someone develops an eating disorder in the first place. I would absolutely think that it could exacerbate and morph into something else, or at least mimic other mental disorders. You're royally screwing with your brain chemicals.
I guess the question in my mind is, was the OCD present before the anorexia?  It's a kind of chicken or egg question.

In any event, it's a tragic situation and very hard to live with.  The amount of suffering that is expressed by those afflicted is just heartbreaking, never mind the cause.
Hmm.  While the depression may have been present before the eating disorder, I definitely feel like the OCD developed as a result as most of my OCD habits are food related.
OCD and Depression are slightly different chemically than say Schizophrenia or Bipolar Disorder.  While the extreme stress you are placing your body under can trigger these disorders they are generally present which makes you more prone to an eating disorder.  I had Bipolar before I became OCD an had food issues.  You should definitely speak to your psychiatrist about your questions.  They are more qualified to answer them.

These are all things I say from personal experience.  I am not a trained psychiatrist.

Blessings, Cynthia :-)
I am bipolar type one and I developed an eating disorder but I am sure the eating disorder was like one of the 1st signs of my bipolar disorder getting worse.  It might be different for some people but for me I am sure the bipolar was what started the eating disorder.
Thanks for the Help.  It's just that because of all this "Eating Situation" I had for about 2 years became into a real obsession, And sometimes I feel crazy, And out of the ordinary, Not like I normally would...Which was 2 years ago.
