I am going out for a pub meal and its going to be very naughty! :(
Ok so I am going out for my once-a-month naughty food night. But I want to minimise the damage (as much as I can) as my work mates have decided to go to a pub with only about a few menu options.
I know they are all terrible choices, but what is the least bad out of:
Grilled Hamburger with egg, beetroot, lettuce, bacon, tomatos and cheese, with a side of chips.
Steak and chips
Salt n pepper calimari and chips.
Chicken schnitzel and chips.
Fish and chips.
Why do these pub meals all have chips?! I know I can leave them (although I will probably have a couple to be realistic) but it still leaves the matter of the other bit of the meal.
Any ideas as to which is best to go with? Am going to have plain porridge for breakfast and a plain salad for lunch, which will help, but which of these options is going to do the least damage?
Cheers guys! :)
Salt n pepper calimari and chips.
My favourite dish is deep fried spicy calimari with sea salt. Very naughty, very delicious. But I usually have it with rice.
My favourite pub food is the chicken pastie, might have a lot of calories, but I can't pass it up.
OR you could buy drinks for everyone and just snack off of their food, dont even order anything for yourself, just an extra plate!
it might amount to less that way, cause you wont feel like taking ALOT of everyone elses food, and you can have a sampler of everything everyone else orders!
Go strict protein................. burger (no bun), no chips........... eat the rest and enjoy..........
Stay away from the things that are fried. So if the calamari is fried I would suggest the steak. Depending of course on how big it is and what type of cut. Sirlion can actually be lean and good for you! Or go for the burger just consider how large it is...maybe skip the bun and cheese and bacon and wrap it in lettuce?
I think we all agree that the chips will be your downfall but then again..a few will never kill you. Its all about portion control. Maybe ask your waiter to package up half of your meal before it arrives at your table. If you do it that way then there will be no reason to overeat or worry about what you choose ! you could probably have anything you wanted that way.
Or maybe just subsitute a side salad for chips and then have a couple of your friends.
I say go with the hamburger, but get them to leave off the cheese and bacon and mayo/ketchup. Mustard is 0 cals, and see if you can maybe get extra salad stuff on top to replace the bacon/cheese. Get them to load it up with pickles, lettuse, and tomato. Eat it first so you don't feel hungry enough to eat all your chips.
If you want to cut down a little more, you could leave off half the bun, but really, what's a burger with no bun? And you DID say this is your monthly treat. To be honest, If I was only doing it once a month, I'd probably eat the whole meal as is lol.
But if not, maybe eat a salad right before you go, or even see if you can sub a salad for the chips and sample a few of the chips off someone else's plate.
Good luck and enjoy yourself!!

No offense, but I used to know a girl who would do this and I couldn't stand it ( or her). Only if you're very close with the others, if you know that wouldn't bug them, and if you put in probably more than your fair share of the bill.
A grilled burger with fresh veggies on it, no mayo, is NOT a terrible choice, especially for your treat meal! Enjoy!
ps yes schnitzel means fried. As are calamari.
How often should you eat during the day?
It is neither necessary to eat every two hours nor to stop eating at 6:00 PM. As long as your calorie intake is less than your output... Read more
