I would love to see a public API that developers could use to build helpful applications. I really am thinking of an Adobe AIR application to help speed up entering foods and exercise. This would make Calorie Count much more convenient.
Thanks!

We would love to figure out ways to help spread Calorie Count and make it more convenient - really love the idea of an Adobe AIR application. Unfortunately, there are currently no plans for a public API, but we'll continue to gauge interest and figure out if this is something we should release. Thanks
I hope you reconsider some time in the future. Calorie Count is fantastic and a desktop application would make it so much easier to use. Even if you don't release an API, I hope you can come up with an AIR app.
Thanks!
Would love to see an API. I would start development on an iPhone application tomorrow if it was available.
I'd like to add a vote on behalf of the company I work for, for the public API. We're working on an iPhone app that would love a JSON/REST api in which to store and retrieve data, and you're web app seems to be one of the best, and biggest.
Has there been any progress made on this?
It is certainly an area that is unknown in the "web API" world as other sites are not willing to open up access. For a community-focused site like about.com, it seems like a natural fit.
Right now, it seems like the only publicly available nutrition information is the sr21 database from nutrition.gov, which is lacking a lot of the things that this site provides.
I too would like to see a public API for CC. I would like to make a J2ME program that allows to add entires to my log.
Heck, even XML RPC, or a document describing how to format HTTP GET and POST messages to send and receive data.
iPhones have JavaScript, so even AJAX-ifying the existing site would go a long way to making it more usable over 3G (and downright snappier at the computer).
Add another vote for adding some sort of API. I really like all of the tools that Calorie Count offers, but even the reports aren't as customizable as I'd like. If I could pull data programmatically, it would save me an hour or so a month of digging through the analysis of each day to get information for the report I've been giving my doctor.
I've been tempted to write my own food tracking software from scratch, but it'd be a pain to move all the data and I wouldn't want to lose the easy interaction with support groups.
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
