Pulsing feeling on bum and back part of upper thighs
Its most likely blood flow. When I do alot of vigorous walking etc and get my heart pumping I can actually feel the blood flow...gets itchy too
There's an article on this here: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5646 61/twitching_muscles_exercise_routines.html
You can't really "feel" fat burning. What you are experiencing is probably twitching in the muscles you exercised or some sort of slight nerve compression.
Do you have any tingling or a loss of sensation? Your Sciatic nerve runs right through the area you are describing. If you are experiencing tingling, pain, weakness or tightness you may want to consult a physician.

So you don't think any correlation to burning fat?
Probably not. However, if you create the image that this feeling is the fat burning off you, that might encourage you to keep going to work out.
Someone once mentioned to me that exhaling is the process of how we get rid of the byproducts of burned fat. Sometimes, when I am working out, I think of that image - that with every breath I am burning some more calories - almost breathing the fat out of me. Clearly this could be taken too far - I don't advocate hyperventilating. But the image sticks with me, especially when I am not having the best day at the gym - I'm still breathing. So even if I don't feel up to it, I can go to the gym, and increase my breathing, and it'll help.
OOOH good way to help me remember to breathe when at the gym!!!
Does anyone else have to conciously think about breathing during exercise? I am finding that I hold my breath during the last set, like it will help me push out that last few reps... goofy.
And jrise.. the sensation you are feeling is most likely your deep muscles twitching from all the effort... I would say that is a really good sign, since my trainer mentioned she experiences the same phenomena after her work-outs! Keep up the good work!
I know exactly what you means. That happens to me too. It's not any muscles twitching it feels like little popping under the skin, like you said, it feels like the fat is burning off. I like to think that's what it is. It is a very satisfying feeling so I'd say just go with it. I know I do.

When I first started running cross-country and weight training, breathing was the first thing we covered. My coaches said it's really important to breathe (properly) while you're exercising, the oxygen flow is critical for your muscle development and organ health.
Its normal.. its just a sign of recovery from a riguous excercise. Thats all!

Too bad because that would be sweet!
I have had the same sensation, as well, and due to the fact that I only get it in the areas with cellulite, I can't help but think that it's the increased bloodflow to that area which is helping to break down the cellulite. My smaller friends who have no such problem as cellulite have never experienced it, but those with it know what I'm talking about when I say "it feels like my legs and butt are being poked all over". I notice this most after vigorous walking or bike-riding when I use more energy in my legs.
I experience the same thing after taking a walk (30 min. or longer), it is a weird feeling! I have noticed that I don't experience the same feeling after jogging or running, or even a brisk walk....only after a relaxed pace walk. Weird.
I get a feeling like that in the same areas and it kind of feels like mild electric shocks. I believe it's from my sciatic nerve.
