Pump class?

Quote  |  Reply

My gym offers pump classes but I have NO idea what to expect. I was thinking of going to one but I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into!! It'd be great if you could share your thoughts on it!

Are you  talking about Les Mills BodyPump? Or some other local "pump" class?

My gym has "pump" classes and they are usually, steppump of cyclepump and it's pretty fun.  You do some cardio, but mix some weights in to get a really well rounded workout.  I like them.

the instructors at my pump class usually ask if anyone is new so they can give direction before each portion/move. go easy on the weights at first, until you get used to it... and you can keep extra weight by your step as well. those classes are usually low weight with high repetitions.

those classes are really fun. i recommend them.

PUmp classes are indeed low weight/high reps. They are awesome in teaching proper form and building strength, particularly in people who are new to weight training.  They are usually a full body workout that can be done about 2x's a week.
