i am making a mixed tape for my boyfriend as part of his x-mas present. so this is what i have so far:
side 1:
foofighters- everlong (not punk or indie but good)
mxpx- do your feet hurt?
the dead milkmen- punk rock girl
the dead milkmen- if you love somebody then set them on fire
descendents- cameage
side 2:
sonic youth- superstar
wire- fragile
daft punk- digital love
the cure- just like heaven
so could anyone suggest any others?

Almost anything by The Smiths, but I have a preference for Girlfriend in a Coma.

In the Indie persuasion:
Damien Rice is pretty fantastic. City and Colour is good too but I'm not sure how I'd categorize that. Feist is good.
Give them a listen and pick a song you like.

Well, they aren't the Dead Kennedy's, but they're pop-punk, the sort of return of punk from the underground.
I may be dating myself, but don't forget about The Clash and Siouxsie And The Banshees!
Sometimes punk songs are not that romantic, although they sing about love ...

Lots of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes covers of romantic songs (but you can't get much pop-punkier than MFATGG)

I realized a lot of these songs are usually directed towards women, but maybe in this case it wouldn't matter? I'm sure I have more, but those are some of the more obvious ones I can think of for now...

Makes me think of my high school boyfriend, who lived 40 miles away (but felt like 2000 Light Years Away)

8 Eyed Spy - Fun little cover of "Diddy Wah Diddy" with Lydia Lunch singing it about a guy
Plasmatics - Baby Baby (sort of tragic and melodramatic though-it's about a girl losing her guy to a stabbing.)
Hmmm...I can think of a lot more punk songs about straight-up lust/sex than love. We're not a very romantic bunch, are we? Also trying to think of songs that are gender neutral or from a girl to a guy,since it's for your boyfriend, which rules out things like The Ramones "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" or Descendants "Silly Girl". I'll think about it more or better yet, run it by my bassist, who's one of those guys with a massive music collection and will probably rattle off 50 different things I didn't even think of.
