Purchasing a Treadmill

Quote  |  Reply

I'm going to be buying a treadmill in the next 2 weeks. I don't like going to the gym and I'm one of those rare people who actually works out at home and my treadmill doesn't become a coat-rack. I used to have a treadmill but it was loud and nosey and not good for apartment living, and eventually broke down within a year-I paid $300 for it at Walmart. Now I live in a better place and would like a new treadmill..Here is what I'm looking for

1. Quiet or as quiet as one can get

2. One that has an incline 0-10% and goes up to 10 mph in speed

3. One that has work-out programs

Please tell me which ones you all recommend or have and why you like them. I'm willing to spend some money for the right treadmill, Thanks!

I bought a ProForm from Sears last month.  It has an incline of up to 10% and reaches speeds of 10mph.  I really like it.  It was a close-out, but they had a very similar ProForm for about $60 more that included hand weights.  I spent $350 on mine and I'm very satisfied.  I've used it every day.

Good luck!

I bought a NordiTrack from Sears.....It does almost everything but walk for you...!

Love it and would recommend it!

I bought a refurbished LifeFitness treadmill at a fitness supply store several years ago.  It is a gym quality machine.  I paid $1,200.00 for it (it would have cost about $3,000 new).  Other than having it maintained one every other year or so, I have had no issues with it at all.  I have found that when it comes to treadmills, you get what you pay for.  The cheaper ones just didn't do what we (my family) wanted them to do.  The belts on some of them weren't long enough for my 6'0 son and my husband, and we all use it (there are 5 of us), so it takes a lot of abuse.  If it's just you using it, and you aren't using it for heavy running workouts, then I think it would be fine to purchase a less expensive model.

I bought a LifeFitness treadmill, home modle not commercial, 2 years ago for about $2500 - it was the best $2500 I ever spent and kicked myself for waiting so long to get it. It has tonnes of programs on it. If you will use it regularly I would recommend spending a few bucks and getting one with a good motor and a decent size belt.
