Pure, unadulterated ridiculousness...

Quote  |  Reply

What are some of the ridiculous things you hear coworkers/friends/family/strangers talking about eating? What crazy things do you see people eating? What fast food invention seems the most ridiculous to you?

I'll start: My coworker just said that her son likes to take a piece of white bread, cut off the crust, put PB & J on top, roll it up, and then eat it. And that he can eat 6 without even blinking. Ridiculous.

Or... the Fruitista things from Taco H311 -- has anyone noticed that they describe the drink as real, blended fruit flavors topped with real fruit? Come on, Taco Bell, you're not fooling us. Ridiculous.

This girl that just quit her job where I work used to eat 2 banquet dinners (microwaveable full meals with about 890mg of sodium each) and handfuls of sunchips.  she claimed to be on a diet.

Well there's the the Hardee's monster burger (2 - 1/3 lb patties, cheese, bacon, and mayo on a buttered bun).  Of course, Burger King does offer a triple Whopper with cheese and something called a "stacker" where you can get 4 patties, cheese, bacon, and mayo on a buttered bun.  Their enormous omelette sandwich should come with a recommendation for a cardiologist.

Of course, I've had my share of embarassments.  I actually enjoyed a slinger the couple of times I've had it (but will never again).

That doesn't sound all that weird, to be quite honest - that's just a pbj rollup.  It's about the equivalent of 3 pbj sandwiches - and while it seems quite a bit of food to an adult, it probably hits the spot for a growing kid.   Although, I would insist on whole wheat bread, stop my son at 3 (rollups) and insist on veggies or fruit if he was still hungry.

One of my brothers loves peanut butter and PICKLE sandwiches... ew.  My other brother likes peanut butter and BOLOGNA sandwiches.  I dunno what's wrong with my family lol.  My older sister also likes nachos... also known as tortilla chips smothered (and I mean SMOTHERED) in ketchup.  I am also weird and will eat sandwiches made up of  a bunch of sliced pickles, bleu cheese dressing, feta cheese and mustard.  Hahaha my genes must be whacked.

It's not exactly an invention but my toes positively curl when I someone tells me they ordered one of those monster steaks which usually has some kind of challenge attached.  "If you can eat the Chubby Chaser 24oz T-bone you can have our Bucket 'o' Chocolate dessert for free!!"  (V popular in the US style diners in the UK.)

Just has 'fat greedy b**tard' written all over it....

As a kid my favorites were mild cheddar cheese covered with sugar.  Baby dill pickles wrapped in swiss cheese were my other obsession.  I'm not going to try them again since I don't want to ruin the memory, I already did that by trying to eat a twinkie as an adult (yuck)...speaking of which, can you think of anything more disgusting than a deep fried twinkie?

Scottish fish and chip shops are famous for deep frying Mars Bars.  And my local chippy in my university town used to heat up ready-made steak and kidney pies by popping them in the frying basket and giving them a quick dunk in the hot oil....

i know people who'll have bread with butter and completely cover the butter with sugar.

and those deep fried oreos are freakin crazY!

There is a coworker of mine who talks about going to the gym nearly everyday. I often walk by her desk and this is what I see: she eats popcorn for breakfast, whole size bags of chips in one day, large movie size boxes of candy, and diet soda. Yum.

white bread = the equivalent of a tablespoon of sugar to your bloodstream
jelly = sugar
peanut butter = sugar and fat added (unless you buy the natural kind)

And honestly, she talks about her culinary expertise with Ramen noodles so I doubt she's buying anything healthy.

PS. Her son is 19.

Have you ever seen the cookies they sell at Jimmy John's? That's a sub sandwich chain here in MI.  The cookies are freakin huge and like 400-500 calories EACH!  It would take an hour's exercise to burn that off!

Baskin Robins had a ketchup flavored ice cream for a while.  it was my sisters favorite.

A 19 year old can eat a LOT - I'm surprised he stops at 6.

In my freshman year of college, I had two friends that decided to have an eating contest in the cafeteria of our dorm.  It was an all you can eat cafeteria because of the food plan, so they decided to try to eat as many salisbury steaks as they possibly could.  Bob won with 13 when the other guy threw up after 12.  My hubby and I still talk about this story with amazement.

There's a restaurant I like to go to in Guadalajara that serves a sweet corn ice cream.  Sounds kinda weird, but it's surprisingly good.

Hooters serves deep fried hot dogs for kids with their names carved in them.

Tried a deep fried hot dog at home -they are far too good to ever make again :)

when my mother was pregnant with me she craved Bologna and sauerkraut sandwiches

Look you said "growing kid" I just wanted throw out there that he's 19.

It's a ridiculous amount of food, no matter who you are. And empty calories.

Edited to add: 6 PB & J roll ups:

  Calories Grams Fat Carbs Protein Grade 1,056 288 51 133 30 B

Sugar: 84 grams (And absolutely all of the carbs are of poor quality)
Sodium: 951 mg

My step daughter used to mix peanut butter and jelly in bowl and it with a spoon.Yuck!!!

I don't know how many of you are familiar with In n Out, it's a burger chain we have here in California. Well they have double doubles (which are delicious by the way) it's 2 patties on a bun with lettuce and tomato and you can order it animal style where is comes with grilled onions, melted cheese, and their secret sauce (its kind of like 1000 island).  The offer these burgers protein style and wrap them in lettuce instead of the bun.  Well I had a girlfriend (who really needed to lose weight) that was on a "low carb diet", and to her part of that diet was 2 of these double-doubles protien style for lunch...WTF. What kind of diet is that!!  She had convinced herself that as long as she wasn't eating the bun it was alright...LOL!

How about deep fried pickles...mmmmm soooooo goooood, but oh so bad!!
