*sigh*
stands up

Hi... My name is Becky.  And I'm.. a purse-aholic.  It's been 2 months since my last purchase at Longchamp in Boston.

sits down...

I haven't done much damage recently due to the economic downturn/I actually need to attempt to be a responsible adult and can't blow my rent on purses or beer  (sad, I know), but does any one else see a handbag in the window and turn to goo?

I think I have about 6 or 7 handbags that go through rotation... and if I had the funds, I'd have a zillion more.  Any other purseaphiles out there?

ETA:  or if not purses, what's your "thing" of choice.  C'mon now, we all have something (when I was 7, it was those cat toy mice... yes, it's true...).

Surprised  You mean, you have more than one?  How do you keep all the stuff in them if you switch them out more than every couple of years?  How do you know which one to look for?

Inquiring minds want to know...

If I had my way I'd have a closet filled with sneakers Laughing

I didn't until this year...I bought 3 purses in the last few month...I think I'd bought maybe that number in the last decade.

Hey there!  i absolutely love purses....  its an addiction.  i have way to many of them.  i keep (more like hide) them all in one of the bed in a bag bag.  you know what i mean.  an they fall out of that so some are in their boxes in my closet.

i switch them out at least 2-3 times a month.  it's easy, just take all of my stuff from one and slip into another and away i go :)

I have 20+ purses.  (and never the right one for the right moment it seems)  However I think my two real issues, are sunglasses and books!

I think I make up for my lack of style and fashion sense with handbags that by their nature are fashionable.  Takes some of the pressure off my ratty Birkenstocks :'(

as far as switching goes, it's usually a giant mess.  I usually grab the essentials like my wallet and such, and end up leaving things I then discover later -- it's kind of fun to find something later on!  I'll often leave a dollar or two, or a winning lotto ticket in there as a surprise for myself later ;D

 haha!  i love this!

i own 1 purse.  it's only for dress up occassions...otherwise, i'm a wallet/phone/keys in the pockets type of girl.

Rocks/Gemstones.

I have bowls and bowls and I can tell you what they all are. I have some right here at my desk even! natural state, tumbled, cut... I have it all!

ha.. my boyfriend is going to vomit when I move in with him in October and take up all his closet space with my stupid purse collection.  >.<

I like the bed in a bag idea.. perhaps I can disguise them.. "oh yes hun, it's our spare comforter" and know that he'll never be overly zealous and actually try and change the sheets or do the laundry ;) *evil laugh*

this makes me wicked happy.  my mom had "rock bowls" and no matter where we were if she saw a pretty rock it would end up home in a rock bowl.  she also had a collection of bysmith (sp?) and amethyst.  I'm going to keep the rock bowls goin' ;)

awesome! one of the ones at my desk is an amethyst cluster! also I work with geologists so most of them have other rocks to look at.

bismuth... metally looking, right? with a rainbow sheen?

they make pepto bismol out of that!! can you imagine?! where'd they get that idea?

/off topic

I have one daughter who collects purses- she changes with every outfit.

I have another daughter who collects shoes- she has a "shoes only" dresser.

I can't afford to don't want to collect either because I'm too happy collecting kids!

Two purses, one for work and a nice blue one that is suppose to be for everyday.  I haven't used it in about a year.  My work purse is like a small backpack with just one strap, I usually just use that one 99% of the time.

I have a collection of tins.  I need a display shelf for them.  There are about fifty of them, some very old.
And I have four sewing machines plus a serger.  No room for purses in my closet full of material.

Meh, I only have 1 purse that I use. I have a couple that my Mom has bought for me that I will never use...  just not my style.

II collect carousel horses (and other animals).  I have a china cabinet with a bunch of them.

But lately I'm just collecting workout equipment...  It just seems like every time I turn around I find some new toy I want!  Course the last one was a complete Olympic weight set that I bought off my nephew along with a bench... so it was a good investment.

Ummm - do dust bunnies count?

Or bread wrapper ties - I collect them on purpose...

why certainly dust bunnies count!  do you have a special way to display them?  I often just let them enjoy their natural habitat but if I'm feeling up to it, I'll display them in a pile in the center of the room.

I used to collect ceramic figurines.. I miss that.  They're all hidden away in a box each individually wrapped with bubble wrap.

I also used to collect the bread ties, but the plastic kind and use them either as a guitar pick, or as a projectile weapon ;)

projectile weapon? *iz intrigued* do tell!

I have 30+ purses, they're all cheapy ones from Target or Walmart, but I got some goodies as gifts in there. :3 I loooooooooooooooooooooooooove hand bags, they're so much fun! My favorite bags are hobo bags or little messenger bags. :3 A messenger-hobo hybrid is pretty awesome too (a hobo with a flap?).

the lil square guys that close the bread bags, they have a cut

out...

and if you break off one of the .. um... sticky outty thingies.. it makes it easier to flick off your finger.

that was a horrible description :\

I'm not a purse person, but I do have 30+ pairs of shoes, most of which are heels. :D!
