I've been doing the following weight regimen hoping that it would help me with my pushups.
Tricep machine
100 reps 30 lbs
100 reps 50 lbs
100 reps 70 lbs
100 reps 90 lbs
100 reps 110 lbs
until failure then back down.
I also do this on bench press and lat row. Am I wasting my time?
that will help some with overall strength, but the best way to get better at doing push-ups, is by doing push-ups...
How many can you do now (in 2 mins)? how long do you have to increase up to that? Add at least one to your base number every day/every other day.
I was afraid of that. On my last pt test, I did 72.
great program to help you get better at pushups
im only on week 2 but it seems to be going great check it out.
Taos, You enlisted? or talking of a pt test in another form?
Yes, I am. PT test in about 6 weeks.
six weeks should be plenty of time to go from 72 to 80 push ups. Start at 68 and work your way from there. Do them every day and add one every 2 days
iv been enlisted for about a year now... right now im on medial leave for six months, 4 months left before i go back on duty, best thing iv found is to do what ever you want to get better at , better at sit-up, do sit-up, better at push-ups do push-ups.... ect good luck on your test,
BTW whats your mos?
Taos - over 20 years experience and agree with coach_k, do push-ups. Do them any chance you get (during commercials, when board, inclined on the bench waiting on the bus, etc). Focus on form and breathing and in a few weeks you will be at 80 easy.
