Filipino delicacy made of steamed glutinous rice (malagkit) and coconut milk.

Recipe Ingredients for Puto Maya

6 cups glutinous rice
2 1/2 cups coconut milk
3 1/2 tsps salt
3 tbsps sugar
3 tbsps ginger juice

Recipe Directions for Puto Maya

  1. Wash malagkit twice, cover with water and soak for 6 hours.

  2. Drain.

  3. Heat water in the steamer until it boils.

  4. Pour drained malagkit into the steamer.

  5. Cover tightly and team for 30 minutes.

  6. Dish out rice and place in a big bowl.

  7. Combine the coconut milk, salt, sugar and ginger juice, and pour into the bowl.

  8. Stir to blend, then put mixture back into the steamer.

  9. Continue cooking for 25 to 30 minutes or until malagkit is tender.
