P90X people...
Hello! Has anyone else here been doing the P90X program to help lose weight? I've been doing it for about 7 weeks and I have lost about 5 lbs, but the program gets tedious to abide by since you have to work out about 1-1 and 1/2 hours a day. Anyways, I am trying to lose about 2 lbs a week and my diet has what they were recommending, but then I started gaining some of the weight back, so I cut it to around 1300 calories. How is everyone else doing on this fitness program?
I have done p90x I havent started back on it in over a year..I lost about 16 lbs while doing it the first time..I did the work out for weight lose..I dont remember what it was called. I liked it but some of the things during the work out I found difficult to do like some of the stuff in the yoga work out
My husband and I did P90X last year I lost about 8lbs and was in excellent shape, but there was a lot of work not only exercising for 1-1 1/2 hrs also food prep took a long time.
I liked the food planner thing..I thought that was great, how many work outs can you get the food planner with..even tho I am not doing p90x right now I still use some of the recipes in the food planner book..I think they taste great. I reccommend the gaspacho soup stuff...unless you cant eat spicy stuff, which would be tough for me to eat now where spicy stuff bothers my stomach...pretty much anything bothers my stomach right now...=) I am down to 4 main things that dont bother my stomach salad, rice, chicken and fish...=)
My boyfriend and I did p90x and had virtually no results (possible 3-4 lb deficit) in approximately 12 weeks...
The tediousness you mentioned really got to us too. A lightning storm broke our television about a month ago, so we couldn't do the videos anymore. we started going to the beach and playing hacky sack and doing other interesting things... and he's down 15 lbs and I'm down 12 lbs since July 1st. . .
I think calorie counting did the trick. :)
I didnt have the great results like some did..It would have made it more worth it if I had, but I think once I am in a good weight limit I may try again and see what happens..I really need to lose some weight so them I can try to work on muscles and sculpting anything...=)
I haven't done P90X but it seems like an impossible exercise program for those of us who are not at all fit... I think Body for Life (www.bodyforlife.com) is much better - check it out. I did BFL years ago when I was already in good shape and I turned out in GREAT shape - and feeling it, too! Also, you don't need any gimmicks, or to buy expensive DVDs - and food prep is as simple (no prep at all) to elaborate as you choose! Really worth checking out... Their forum is also really good.
BTW - don't always go by the scale - sometimes when one begins a weight training program you can actually GAIN some weight - this is becasue muscle weighs more than fat - so you could be burning fat, and getting fit, but in the beginning put on a few pounds due to growth of muscle... all good, right??
Hope you enjoy BFL if you look at it! Good luck whatever you do!
I do P90X.... well, off and on, I tend to get tired of it and do my own replacement workout.
There isn't very much cardio in it so I never lost much weight when all I did was p90x. I started doing a lot more cardio (running, biking) and I've lost 10 lbs in the last month.
