P90x-Pullups
I'm currently just finished day 30 of p90x. I am just starting the second phase it seems to be easier for me then the first 30. I guess I'm just getting stronger. The pull-ups are still hard for me. My goal by the time I'm done is to get 10 unassisted pull-ups. Anyone else having trouble.
Bah --- I can't do a pull-up or a chin-up. I am attempting *negative* chin-ups. Chin-ups are supposedly easier to start with, and the negative just means jump up to the bar and try to lower yourself slowly. The negatives are supposed to help if you can't do an actual single chin/pull-up yet.
I have also read about people using resistance bands (ie: tie a loop around bar and slip leg/foot through) but it looks a bit dangerous -- I would probably lose my balance when I came down and crash!
yep, I am in the same boat.
My pullups are pretty pathetic, but I continually try even if I get half way up and just hold it.
If not that I will use the LAT machine
Doing negatives did wonders for me - well, I can only do 2 pull ups in a row from hanging right now but about three weeks ago, when I started with the negatives, I couldn't do any.
I've just started with the whole "greasing the groove" thing - doing a few pull ups (fewer than your max) several times throughout the day. I've heard that's the way to go. How great does it feel when you get that first real pullup though?!
Heaven would be doing unassisted pull-ups. It is one of my mini-goals. I just might start trying those negative pull-ups.
my girl could only do 1/2 a pull up...lol...but now she can do 3 full pull ups....
I started out doing only 7 (so embarrassing...lol)....now after the program I can do 31. but it was a struggle to get there...the way I improved my pull ups was pretty simple actually. I would always try to do the number of pull ups tony did....so if he did 20, and I could only complete 7, I would get the band, and do the last 14 with the band. this way I'm still getting his full 20, and strengthening the muscles needed to do a full 20 eventually. now I'm like a freaking monkey with the bars...doing all kinds of pull up and chin up variations.
good luck
I just finished the second phase I'm on my recovery week before I start the last phase I can now do 1 unassisted pull-up. How cool is that Its amazing. Its a start I guess but I think I better hope for 3-5 by the time I'm done.
Congratulations! I'd sticky you for bragging rights for a week or so, but the runners need a little more time to get some momentum going I think. But that's great!
