Q about Calorie Cycling

Quote  |  Reply
Morning all 8)

I have a quick Q?

Are any of you calorie cycling to stoke the metabolism? is it working? If you do it, do you do maintenance cals one day then under the next? or 1500 one day 1200 the next. I aim for around 1350-1400 - more when I hit the gym.

Had a treat day yesterday, went only 100 cals over maintenance, so no big deal - am super happy at the mo as I have broken through a platea.

Considering doing a little under today, but just wondering what you guys do to keep your bodies guessing.

Off for a surf after work, so may need some cals for that - will probably carry on doing what I'm doing - but interested in the up one day lower cals the next - any advice appreciated.

Thanks 8)

Input your info here and then once its given you the calorie break down, below is a calorie cycling guide you can click on.
Has this worked for anyone?

I'm thinking about trying it this month, and would just like to know if it's been met with faster results.  So far nothing I do has been met with any results, though I'm sure it's my fault to an extent.  I'm running a lot, so I guess I thought that was supposed to make me lose weight.

But I haven't been logging, or watching lately, as I find myself in a funk.  I'm snapping out of my funk, so hopefully my focus can return.
If you are running, you need to up your calories to make up for the calories burnt while running.  Ensure that you deficit is in the 500-800 range even after the exercise.  If you don't want to eat, have protein shake or something before you run.
m3lody - thanks for the link.
m3l thank you for that great link.  I too am at a that darned plateau!  I jog 2 days a week and quick walk with walking lunges 3 days a week, along with upper body light weights (total 5 days a week training).  I've been averaging about 1450 cal per day, creating an average deficit of 600 calories a day, and yet I haven't budged, GRRRRR.  I'm going to try this calorie cycling and see if it works.  It's interesting, after inputting my #'s, that site said for weight loss I should take in about 1600 calories a day.

i go for a large deficit monday through thursday and if i sucessfully reach my target deficit on all those days, i'll eat maintenance calories friday through sunday.  i wouldn't say my weight loss is faster, just more consistent.  i've been losing 1 pound per week.  i think cycling my cals keep me sane and i tend to stay on track knowing i'll be able to eat a lot more at the end of the week.

Hi holiday_mouse, I would say the calorie cycling diet does work. I'm currently following a free 7 days calorie cycling diet course from this website :

http://calorieshiftingdietplan.com/

I'm on the 5th day today and I managed to lose 1.2lbs since the first day. Basically I think that any diet will work, it really depends whether you are determined enough to follow the diet for a long period of time :)

hi

ive just started calorie cycling in order to lose weight for my holiday Smile

i am doin it for three days of eating less calories and on the forth day is what i would call a skip day meaning i kin eat what i want

i would only recomed doing it like this if u were cutting ur calories drastaclly (I.E) 500 calories for 3 days then  anyfing up to 2000 calories on the fourth day

if your were eating over 1000 calories a day i would suggest doing it for 6 days then on he 7th day have ur skip dayLaughing

Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?

In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
