Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal
Hello, i just bought "Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal"
i just had a question, it say water or Skim milk
does it have to skim milk or can be other milks as well?
Water or skim milk is what they reccomend but it's your choice in the end. :)
Just remember to keep track of the calorie differences and it'll be fine.
Use any edible form of liquid you'd like! =)
You can use anything you want... BUT I would just like to point something out. These things are a scam! Did you compare the nutritional values on the Weight Control oatmeal compared to the same flavour in the regular version? (or it might be the lower sugar version, can't remember) They are the same thing! Yes, the cals/fat for a "serving" are lower, but only because the actual serving in the envelope is smaller! And then they have the nerve to put 2 less packs in the box! GRRR! So in the end, you are paying the same amount for 2 less packages of a smaller serving. I don't know why this bothers me as much as it does, but I guess it's because it makes me feel like they think that just because we're overweight, we're dumb! Please save yourself some $$, buy the regular stuff, weigh it on your scale, and throw out the "excess" or better yet, throw it in a container and keep adding to it each time, and by the time you've finished the box, you'll have an extra "weight controlled" portion left.
Sorry, that one really irks me! But I guess they don't say "light" they say weight control. ![]()
yum! i live off that stuff! the maple brown sugar, apple cinnamon, and banana bread are delish! sometimes i'll put cut up apple pieces in it and microwave it with those in it too. :)

i eat mine w/ skim milk
I make mine with water and then add about a tablespoon of organic horizon reduced fat vanilla milk to the maple and brown sugar pack! So GOOD!!!

This is funny. It's "portion control" because many people have no self control (hence their obesity). Just like all those 100 cal snack packs you see these days. You're paying for the convenience of not having to measure out your own food. So, if you don't like measuring things and have little self control, paying for portion control is an alternative. However, I can think of a lot less healthy alternatives than oatmeal to control portions on.
I thought "weight control" Quaker oatmeal had much more Fibre in the smaller portion than the regular. Therefore keeping you feeling fuller, longer.
Does anybody know?

yep they definitely do have a couple or so more grams of fiber than reg. oatmeal
I eat the lower sugar kind and I feel fuller longer... and it has less sugar... almost half. I know the packets are a little smaller, but not half the size. Skim milk has less calories, so if you use another kind of milk you just need to add more calories for it. I think skim tastes fine, the brown sugar and apple cinnamon flavore still taste good with skim milk .

I admit, I buy 100 calorie packs. lol Not often, but sometime having a single serving SEALED packet of something is more convenient than putting it in a baggie.
But if I eat one at home... I still weigh it. lmao I just don't trust manufacturers.
I think just about everything in a package is a scam in one way or another. Pound for pound, comparing the cost of making it from scratch on your own, those convenient little oatmeal packets are one of the biggest ripoffs around. To make that same amount of oatmeal from scratch, with the same ingredients, would only take minutes and cost pennies. Make up enough for three or four days, or freeze the leftovers and make them your "convenience" food. You have total control over the taste, texture and best of all, you aren't limited to just quick oats...you can enjoy a huge variety of breakfast grains, including quinoa, millet, steel cut oats, rye flakes, spelt flakes, oat bran, quinoa flakes, ground flax seed, wheat germ, etc....
It might take a few extra minutes a week, but for the flavour, cost and control over what you are eating, it's well worth it to me...

So you can keep track of what you eat - which enables you to analyze your foods and receive the following:
