how disappointing is this?  the Queen--the last of the hot, proud big women--has sold out.  bah!!

I dunno.  I LOVE QL.  and I'd rather that she end up healthy than have a spokesperson for "it's OK to be huge" cause, y'know, it's really not OK.  I don't think she'd look good at a very low weight, but if she's uncomfortable where she is, do we have the right to judge her?    Especially anyone here, who is trying to lose weight?  Do we want her to just be out there hotter and fatter than us, with no care for what she wants?  Let's be better than that.  She might only be trying to lose 30 or 40 pounds, anyway, not get all Kate-Moss-Keira Knightley-fied.  How would we know?
Honestly how can you say she sold out?

What business of yours is it anyway? She obviously either got a fantastic advertising deal along with something that'll make her healthier or she just plain old wants to lose weight like the rest of us.

Her name's QL but she's "just" a woman like the half of the rest of the worlds population.
yep - and we need another woman on TV talking about how fat she is.  i say she sold out because she's getting paid to lose weight to promote the sale of a product that doesn't work for probably 90% of the people who buy it.  and because it's a direct contradiction of what she's said in the past.

what business is it of mine?  she's on TV.  it's everyone's business!
She is doing it for health reasons, not because she sold out. In an interview she said that diabetes runs in her family, and she doesn't want to end up with it.
i don't fault her for deciding to get healthy.  i'm disappointed that she's promoting a weight loss product.

I say good for her if she is doing it for health reasons. People say a lot of things in their past does mean people don't change and priorities change. For whatever reason she now sees that her weight could be an issue and put her at higher risk for diabetes which someone here said runs in her family.

The reason JC doesn't work for a lot of people, is because they don't look beyond what the JC consultants tell them.

All JC is, is organized prepaid portion control, if people would think a little more and realize why JC is working while they're on it then it would work afterwards too.

Well good for her, I wish I was getting paid for losing weight and getting healthier, talk about secondary motivation aside from wanting to get healthy and slimmer. Some may call it selling out but I call it a smart business decision that happens to work with a person's personal goals.

People are also allowed to change their opinions so even if this is a direct contradiction of what she's said in the past. Who says she isn't permitted to change her point of view??
yeah i noticed it too. hopefully she loes the weight in a healthy manner! &hopefully she still stays thick-thin!

While I think it's great that she shows that you can be beautiful and sucessful even if you are big, I think it's even better that she recognizes it's not healthy. Really, fat acceptance harms us all.  I'm with Harmony, though, I hope she is a role model for a healthy, fit, larger woman.  I'm tired of seeing figures I couldn't attain even if I wanted to!

And no diet plan works for more than 10% of people (unless you count surgery).  I've often wondered, is it 10% of the population that can lose weight on ANY diet or is it that you need a diet that fits you, and only 10% of people fit with any given diet program? Hmm...

I could never be accountable to the public! The pressure! Argh!

If anyone wants they can read her blog over at Jc. In the blog she states this is not a vanity issue, the size of her clothes or number on the scale do not matter to her. She also states that this is for health reasons. She said that she read if you lose 10% of your body weight it reduces the risk of serious health issues. Also she states that she was already an active person it was portion control that was getting her basically. And JC is teaching her is portion control. I say more power to her.

Just curious did anyone have a problem when Christie Alley or Valarie became a spokes person or did the program?

I heard her say on an interveiw that she was trying to set a healthy example for women. I doubt she is trying to fit that stick thin mold that many movie stars are.
It's good that she's embracing a healthy meal plan. Let's face it, she needs to lose a few pounds for health reasons. I don't care if you're all for fat acceptance, she's simply not healthy at that weight.
frankly, i think kirstie alley and valerie bertinelli might need the money.
I would *LOVE* to be paid to lose weight
sarah, we'd all love to be paid to lose weight!  the question is, would you sign on to sell a product that fails most of the time?

here's the problem with the weight loss industry: if it works, it puts itself out of business.  so it doesn't really want to work - not in a permanent way.  i can understand buying in if you're desperate, and i can understand selling it if you need the money, but QL clearly isn't suffering for cash.
I don't think that Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers sell a program where they gear you to failure.  I do think that the common misconception is that you can lose a bunch of weight and then eat whatever you want.
I don't see the problem with her getting paid for selling the product. If she sticks to the program and loses the weight, what's the problem? It doesn't work for most people because they don't stick to the program.

i know! wtf?!? i thought out of anyone, she'd NEVER do something like that. my whole world is upside down! Tongue out

thanks, dalma!  at lease one person agrees with me - it was getting lonely in here ;-)
I love Queen Latifa, and I want her to be around for a long time.  Losing weight will do that for her.  She is a naturally big woman and can carry some weight, but obesity will do a lot of damage as time goes on.  I think she'll always be big and proud, and hot too, but she's not going to get any younger.
