On a quest for the illusive gap between the thighs - (closed)

Quote  |  Reply

I am currently 190.5lb 5ft8/9 tall  with thighs measuring 25 inches each(well at least they are symetrical, the only good thing I can say about them)

I am creating this topic in order for us to share tips on how you have/intend to get that illusive gap. And for people to share how successful their methods have been/ are being so far.

My strategy

1) lose weight, I am losing weight at a rate of 2lbs a week and have been for a while now and hope to stick with it.

2) excercise bike, I plan to up the amount of time that I spend on my exercise bike and if the weather is good(I am from the UK so I don't hold much hope) then go cycling outside aswell.

I will try this for a while and will post my thigh measurements(and weight) each week.

And out of curiosity, if there is any of you lucky people out there with "the gap" how small did your thighs have to be to get it?

Come join me in my QUEST !!!

Thanks, my aim is to try and be a healthy weight (168lbs ) by new years... start the year as I mean to go on.

I don't know whether I will make it as I haven't been below 174lb since I was about 14 but its sure worth trying for.

Happy Friday! I weighed in this morning and had a luscious surprise.... 153lbs!!!! and I lost half and inch off both of my thighs!!!Whoo hoo! Haven't been this low since early September!  I guess the change up in diet plus exercise routine has broken my plateau esque state. yay!!!   How'd everyone else do today??

Food Food Food

B: slice of cheese and half a piece of meatloaf

S: hardboiled eggwhites and almonds

L: meatloaf and green beans

S: celery with peanut butter

D: maybe tuna or some more meatloaf idunno yet

Exercise

60 minutes of something, maybe pilates, all i wanna do is make it to at least 360 minutes and that should do it.

Anyone doing anything fun this weekend?? I'm going to this haunted penitentiary in Pennsylvania, its looks so scary. Its a two long walk through tour i think so that's my exercise for Sunday. I'm sure all the peeing my pants will help me lose weight. haha.

Congrats on the weight and inch loss, girlfighting27!

Your weekend sounds like a blast. I'll probably stay home and continue work on my Monthy Python embroidery (...yes, I'm one of THOSE).

THANKS! I'm so happy about it.

Embroidery keeps your hands busy so you can't put food in your mouth! so being one of THOSE might be a good thing!

That does sound really fun.  I'm so excited for the weekend but it will be a challenge to count calories because I'm going back home.  -_-  I'm really excited though, because I get to see both my brothers and it's my birthday Sunday so that means great fun.  :)

I like cross-stitch, but I can't embroider.  That actually takes skill, haha.  Probably the reason I LIKE cross-stitch.  It's pretty mindless.

I went through there a couple years ago! It was a lot of fun, the haunting stuff is really scary but the thought that it's a real penitentiary where people were really tortured and all was a more scary when you're walking through, because it's dark and you're afraid you might see a real ghost.  Have fun!! I'm very jealous that you're going to PA...I'm from there and living in louisiana has made me miss PA SOOOO much.  I hope to go home for christmas!

 happy early birthday!!

GOOD MORNING! How's everyone doing today?

I finally got my car back on friday!!! Went to the city and celebrated with drinks and 53rd and 6th (a wonderfully delcious gyro cart!). I got in a brawl at the bar with some meat head guy, over how many drinks i could purchase at once.  I had a open bar wristband so technically i can have as many as i want till the time limit, but I'll admit I was getting multiples and sharing them, which is of course a no no. But I know the guy that owns the bar and he always lets me do it.

So i was asking this jerk for the owner, and he kept telling me nobody by that name works here blah blah. Which i know is a total lie since I saw the owner a couple minutes before. Anyway I finally see the owner again standing behind the bar right next to the meat head. I go up to say hello, and then point my finger in the meat head's face and tell the owner how he yelled at me.  The look of shock on his face was priceless and I wish I had it on video.  The owner asked why he yelled at me and told him to make me a drink and anything I wanted for the rest of the night was FREE. haha I WIN!!

anyway here's my food and exercise

PM: 60 minutes pilates

B: tunafish

S: celery and PB

L: meatloaf with veggies

S: egg whites

D: chicken soup with eggwhites and spinach

good luck with this week everyone!!!

Wow!  Sounds like a good time, though, definitely.  ;)  Gotta love free stuff!!

You really had tuna for breakfast!  XDDDD  I'll be having that twice today, as I left my meal card at home!!!  I've gotta make my own stuff when that happens... although it DOES mean I can measure my ingredients.

I ate badly one day, but yesterday was pretty much on track.  We celebrated my birthday Saturday because it was more convenient so I made sure to eat like a cow, yet restrain myself at the same time.  I didn't have the mozzerella stick appetizers, but I did have a pork sandwich for lunch.  So, overall, not as bad as it could have been.

yeah I did have tuna for breakfast haha. i'm doing law carb and ran out of time to make myself eggs this morning since the tuna was already made from the night before it was the fastest option.

Hi, ladies. (are there any gentlemen?)

Got a hold of my measuring tape yesterday and took my measurements. Down a bit in the waist, but still have my thighs of thunder!

Hips - 35 in

Thighs - 20 in

Waist - 23 in

Weight - 106 (this morning, I think it was 106.5 yesterday morning when I took the measurements)

Height - 5'0

BMI - 20.7

I did get the chance to walk a ton yesterday -- Beautiful weather (with a beautiful boy, no less!) and if I keep that up, perhaps the thigh situation will change for the better.

I'm too lazy! I've got to get going on some actual "exercise!"

Good on ya, collier.

I ran 5 km today for the first time and feel GREAT. Doing well in terms of weight loss and can't wait until next Thursday's measurements. Pleeeaaase thighs, just lose 0.5 cms? Please? For me?!?

good morning everyone! the craving for something sweet was killing me so instead of ignoring it and most likely bingeing i decided to have an free day without counting carbs, and I go back to carb counting tomorrow.  I can't wait till Friday I wanna measure now, but I figure I better wait a full week before i check. please lose another half inch thighs please!!!

food food food

B: cap'n crunch with skim milk and tea. it so satisfied my sweet tooth!

S: string cheese

L: chicken soup with spinach and egg

S: pineapple

D: I've been dying for pizza. maybe I'll buy one of the kashi ones.  They're not that bad and have so much fiber!

Exercise: 60 minutes pilates total for week 120 minutes.

UGH.  I'm STARVING.  Yesterday since I didn't have my meal card I didn't want to spend $5 on celery so I had ramen as my main meal.  It tasted great but it was terrible for me.  I STILL haven't gotten a notification about whether my package has arrived.  It better come today, they overnighted it.  That means I shouldn't have to wait a week, damn it.  I wasn't very good yesterday.  I was alright until the nighttime and then I needed some cereal as a snack.  Then I had some tootsie rolls.  Fail.  I can't seem to stick to 1200 if I'm not eating my salads and sushi... what a bugger.

it totally sucks when you forget something and it throws your whole day off.  I'm not the greatest with getting up on time for work, so i always run out of time to make myself breakfast and lunch. I should start doing that at night so I don't have to worry about it.

Kizzichan, can you ball-park how many calories are in vegetarian sushi for me? Say with mixed veggies or avacado? I've always been curious!

The brand I buy that I really like is called Southern Tsunami and CC has their nutrition info up.  If you wanted the vegetable sushi for 12 pieces it'd be around 350 calories.  Believe me, that stuff is FILLING.  I usually get to 6 and I'm full, I push it until 8, and then if I keep going I start feeling sick from eating too much!!!  It's SOOOO yummy.  It's got avocado and celery, rice, and the seaweed wrap... probably some more veggies in the vegetarian one, but I usually get the imitation crab.  VERY healthy.

I don't mean to be Debi-downer but just to let you know for some people the gap is an impossibility, as when I was 99 lbs recently my thighs still touched. Maybe if I was more toned rather than skinny it would be different ... not sure, but I don't think it's the healthiest of ways to measure weight-loss success for everyone.

Hey thanks nycgirl, I think all of us know that this may indeed be an impossibility, for me I guess I will have to wait and see. I still have a long way to go with my weight loss. Our main aim is to be healthy and hopefully have lovely toned legs :) (along with the rest of our body). As for being 99lbs and still not having the gap, my weight loss will stop many pounds above this so I guess I will have to wait and see.

Hey I was just wondering whether getting "the gap" is genetic?

I look at my legs and if I ignore the fact I seriously need to lose more weight I feel that this goal is achievable.

I know my mum at 5ft 4 and 133lbs has the gap. (not that I am jealous)
