I just bought a pack of Ice Breakers Sours, which claim to have no sugar, fat or calories.
I love these things because they really help with my sweet tooth, but my question is, how can these things have NO calories.
Does any one know of any negative effects of say, eating the whole container?

I know of one negative side affect - eat too many and they act like a laxative, LOL. By the way, sugar free does not necessarily mean CALORIE free, so check the nutrition label.
Good luck to you, Jackie!!!

Thank you nubiker. ;]

my only issue might be around too much artifical sweetners or the laxitive effect, rememeber anything with zero calories and tastes sweet is usualy too good to be true, at least without some side effect.
It's legal to say it has no calories if a serving has under a certain amount of calories. Therefore, if the candy is tiny and that's a serving size, it might have 1/2 calorie or something, so legally cal free, but if you eat 20 of them you would end up w/ 10 cals.
I'll try to find the amount that makes it legal to report 0.

honestly, those things are incredible. my boyfriend has a pack of them in his desk, and i go to him whenever i'm terribly antsy for some sugar.
OK, this is straight from the FDA Website (I added the bold):
"(b) Calorie content claims. (1) The terms ``calorie free,'' ``free
of calories,'' ``no calories,'' ``zero calories,'' ``without calories,''
``trivial source of calories,'' ``negligible source of calories,'' or
``dietarily insignificant source of calories'' may be used on the label
or in the labeling of foods, provided that:
(i) The food contains less than 5 calories per reference amount
customarily consumed and per labeled serving.
"
This means that legally it's possible that your tiny little candy has 4.5 calories each... which is negligible for just a few candies, but eat 20 & you're close to 100 cals!

well i'll be a monkey's uncle..
dammit.
dammit.
GEEZ! I had like 20 of them today >:|
Thanks for that info though, Now I learned my lesson lol.
How many candies does it say per serving size? Cause if it says like 4 candies per serving and that's at 0 calories, which could be up to 4.99 calories in reality, then the 20 you ate would still be under 20 calories. Right? This way at least you can assure you're accounting for them in your calorie counting.
serving size is one candy :-/
That stinks. : (
YES it most certainly does. lol :[..
as dartrinton said, "anything with zero calories and tastes sweet is usualy too good to be true"
ahhh well.

Yeah, I'm sorry to have been the bearer of evil news.

haha, life will go on, I suppose. :P
Personally I'm blaming Ice Breakers. Even altoids admits there 5 calories per couple sour candies.

Hey there....just a little bit of information on those sugar free treats. A lot of times they contain mannitol which is o.k. for you....well, not exactly....in large quantities they have been shown to cause tumors in lab animals. YIKES!!! I figured I could eat a bunch of chocolate with no sugar but I had the worst stomach ache afterwards...be careful not to over do it!!! A little REAL sweet, organic bar won't kill you once in a while....good luck
If you look on the website, for the candies, it only shows information
for the berry splash. It says it is 5 calories for TWO pieces...that's
not as bad then! Eating these is probably better than depriving
yourself and then going nuts later.
