i have a question about the calorie coach..

I guess I don't understand when or what makes the calorie coach give me a thumbs down?  I have eaten healthy foods today and I entered my jog in the activity log, but I have a thumbs down.  I feel a little ridiculous asking this, but I just would like to know the correct answer instead of me guessing and guessing like a crazy person!

Thanks guys.

Hi Jacquie,

I have no clue.. I really am not able to work out or exercise, and I always eat well and always get a thumbs down. I also lost 10 lbs in a month and still got the thumbs down. I believe it has to do with amount of data entered but not sure. Sorry, I'm new to this too. But counting calories is helping me.  Hope it works for you too.

Arcy

I have been very careful to stay at 1200 calories a day like I'm supposed to.  I have been to the gym everyday.  Work out with a trainer 2x a week.  I lost 7 pounds last week!  I lost it doing everything I'm supposed to do and then I got a thumbs down.  I think it will give you a thumbs down if you lose more than 2 lbs a week regardless of what you did to lose it.

Oh ok, that does make sense. I didn't even think of that! I did lose 5 lbs this week so that must be it. Thank you so much for answering!

I have my own question about the mysterious calorie coach.  I have a thumbs up, but it says that I am on track to reach my goal weight by September of next year.  However, the calculator had told me to expect May of next year.  So far I've done well to keep my calories down and my weight loss is even a bit ahead of what's expected.  The September date is a little discouraging to me.

I wish they would put a little more info out on the Calorie Coach and how it works.

Yeah, that is strange! I think I'm just going to not take it so realistically. It sounds like you've been on track, and you've lost more than expected! That's awesome! All we can do is keep on track, I guess. The calorie coach may just be a little tricky.

I didn't know it gave anything except a 'thumbs up' - I just figured it was an ecouragement signal to 'keep trying'...I've not done very well, to be honest...peer pressure is my weakness!

I have always had a thumbs up I didn't even know there was a thumbs down.

I make sure most of the foods I eat are in the A to B+ range it has helped me making good decisions on what foods I eat. Perhaps that has something to do with thumbs up. Originally I thought the thumbs up was I was continually on the track for my goals. Sometimes my weight is up by three pounds and a couple of days later it can drop 5 lbs.

Hi guys!  I think I may have figured out the "thumbs down".  I too had a thumb down for my first few weeks.  My first week I lost around 6 pounds and received a thumbs down.  Then this week when I logged my weight loss - 2.6 lb, it switched to a thumbs up!  So, I think it is if you are losing too fast, it will give you a thumbs down.

As for the goal date changing...  I'm not positive, but I can tell you that while my thumbs were down almost every day my goal date would push back a few days.  It ended up being a month later than my first goal date.  However, once I put in my weight loss for this week and the thmbs went up...  The weight loss goal also moved up a month.  To May 2010, when originally it was June 2010.

So, I don't know if this answers anyone's questions, but hopefully so!  I think I might go ahead and start logging my weight in every day (I was doing it once a week).  Especially if my goal date might move up!

Do you all log your weight every day?  If not, how often?

I have a trainer weighing me every Friday so that is when I log it.  I don't get on the scale any other time.  I would find it too discouraging to get on the scale more often and to see the little ups and downs.  As far as the thumbs/up down thing...After a 7 lb loss and a thumbs down, I didn't lose this week and got a thumbs up.  I'm not going to get discouraged though, I'm down a couple of inches all the way around.  Its a good idea (especially if you're doing any weight training) to take your measurements.  I am fairly new to this site and I love it!  It is great to not only track calories but in making sure I'm eating the correct proportion on carb/fat/protein.
