What would you call a person who only eats Chicken, Turkey, Fish and eggs..but no red meat, or pork and the such. I know there are different labels for different kind of vegitarians so could anyone enlighten me with this?

A choosy carnivore.

I'm not kidding. A carnivore is a carnivore, even if they opt away from red meats.

omnivore.

Yeah, that person is not any "kind" of vegetarian.  They just don't eat red meat.  Doesn't make them a carnivore, either, though, unless they ONLY eat meat and no veggies.

Omnivore would, indeed, be the right word, but if you want to encapsulate the not eating red meat part, I would suggest a new word.  Perhaps "no-red-meativore?"  I would not incorporate an '-itarian" suffix under any cost.

lmao. Ok, totally got you. Yes, that's the word Omnivore. Thanks guys very much. :)

I was once vegitarian for about 6 months if not a little longer (sadly, during my anorexic days) but once I went to the hospital I figured I would get out faster buy eating the stuff and it just became a habit agian although I did give up what I mentioned and have no desire for it. Even with what meat I do eat, I don't eat it very often, come to think of it I don't even think I get enough protien in my diet, probably why I lack so much energy most of the time.Undecided

A "person who doesn't eat red meat".

I'm not being snarky, this works just as well as any other label. For example:

"Would you like to come over to dinner? Is roast beef OK?" / "Thank you but I don't eat red meat. Maybe we could have chicken instead?"

"I never see you eating hamburgers. Are you a vegetarian?" / "No, I just don't eat red meat."

"Would you like to come to our vegan potluck?" / "OK, since there will be no red meat there I can eat everything! I'll make sure to bring a vegan dish."

Well I know it's not a vegitatian exactly, I just knew it had a label. I was once on another message board where this girl posted a whole list of different things dealing with people who only ate eggs with vegan products, ones who only ate chicken and turkey or whatever, ones who would eat fish but nothing else...and etc. There was a lot of different names for each and I had forgotten what the one was (this was a few years back.), but since the girl posted it like a whole vegitarian thread that's what it was melded into my mind like that. It makes more sense though as what was posted here.

Ok..if a person ate fish and eggs and none of the other meat that wouldn't make them a vegetarian either, right? Since a Fish is techinically a living creature and it is meat.

yeah. people that eat fish are not vegetarians. i don't know about a specific term for a non-red meat eater, but why try to label yourself? all you really have to say is that you don't eat red meat. it doesn't need a special name.

Oh, I do. Haha. I don't go around saying "Hey, I'm an omnivore!" That would just sound ridiculous. Tongue out I just rememered there was term for it and was curious as to what it was. Thanks to all who answered me. :)

a person who eats no other meat than fish is called a pescatarian.

a person who eats no other animal products except eggs and milk is an ovo-lacto vegetarian.  you can be just ovo or just lacto as well.  most vegetarians fall under this definition.  someone who eats no animal products (including gelatin, honey, etc. that means no marshmallows!  and usually no refried beans!) is, of course, a vegan.

a person who eats any other sort of meat and vegetables, is, as above, an omnivore (omni= all), a vegetarian in this terminology is a herbivore.

there may be a term for someone who eats no red meat but still eats meat that is more specific.  a google search turned up the term "flexitarian."

good luck on finding something interesting to call it!

Yes, those are some of the other names I heard. How come a fish eater has "tarian" at the end of its name if it is still meat? I never understood why some religions don't consider fish as meat.

the difference is in the root of the word. you have herbivore, carnivore, and omnivore. these are greek roots for what animals eat as classifications.

the rest are human constructs to describe human eating that have developed over the last... 80 years? it is based on the suffix "arian" from the latin for believer or advocate.

Interesting. I guess, its true you do learn something everyday! :)
