Question about dairy sugar and fruit sugar?

Quote  |  Reply
I know that high fructose corn syrup and what not is bad for you. But when looking at the grades of such things as yoghurt, milk, or even all the fruits, negative things posted about them are they are Very High in Sugar. However, I thought that the sugar in dairy products and fruit is really good for you and isn't the same sugar found in processed junk foods, candy, ect.

So what I would like to know is if the sugar isn't that great for you, and having whole grains can also cause huge spikes in insulin, then how do you go about eating 5-6 meals without having your insulin in a fat-storing process the whole entire time?!?!

Rice:

Sugar in fruits can be detrimental to a diabetic.  From what I know about you, you do not need to worry about these.  They are complex and break down slower than sugar in candy and processed white flour or pastry.  Did you know that popcorn can send your blood sugar soaring?  Yes, it is surprising what will send your blood sugar sky high.  Again, you should not need to worry too much about this unless you are diabetic or have a metabolic disorder.  Personally, I stay away from orange juice (pure sugar), white flour, potatoes, ect.

As far as the 5 to 6 servings of processed bread/grains....it is hogwash.
rrice, most of the fruits are very low on the glycemic index, excpet bananas.  That's why they are okay to eat.

Even for diabetics, some health-care professionals are not concentrating on the glycemic index to determine which carbs should be avoided, giving diabetics many more foods to enjoy.

You can check the glycemic index score for foods at this site:

www.nutritiondata.com

some of the figures are estimates because, unfortunately, not very many foods have yet been tested.  But the estimates are based on similar-content foods that have been tested.

you might be surprised at which foods are high and which low.  You can do a search at the above site for all foods that are low on the glycemic index.
