Question about Diet Coke consumption
I drink two cans of Diet Coke daily, it's quite possibly one of the only things I can drink now, which is pretty pathetic, but is it okay to do so?

It depends on the degree of "healthfullness" that you are going for. I would say yes, it is ok. You could be doing much worse and two cans is better than six cans. A couple isn't a huge deal. Do you drink water? Why can't you drink anything else?
hmmm....Well, having a can or two of Diet Coke a day won't kill you, but I recommend having water, too.
I have drunk 2+ cans of DC a day since I was about 15 years old. I am trying to cut it back now but it's fine. As long as you drink WATER also, 8 glasses a day if possible, I have noticed no bad side effects (except of course the whole teeth issue as it's a brown beverage).
I have drunk isn't very good english there, is it ... LOL ...
I drink 2 liters a day. My doctor doesn't think it's necessarily a bad habit, but he doesn't think it's good either. I tried cutting back but it didn't work. I don't really like the taste of other drinks, but I do drink a lot of water too.
Newsweek did a recent article about this. How we all addicted to Diet Coke, and that really isn't a bad thing. The article went on to dicuss whether we really need (or would drink) a vitiman enhanced version. But in the article it did say that drinking vast amounts of the stuff isn't so bad. Alot of people go on about the cancer in lap rats from the aspartame, but reports show that we would have to drink 18 cans of diet coke everyday to get cancer from diet coke. Some people do drink it like water. Most people drinking diet are overweight. That for some reason drinking diet drinks does not form healthy eating habbits. However in contrast, if you must have a soda pop, might as well drink diet and save yourself the calories.
Me? I will only touch Diet Pepsi. Sometimes three a day. But I don't think it is healthy. It is like a really bad fix when I'm bored and I just want to snack on something (anything!). But drinking a diet drink and going on a run sometimes fun.
How is this: I think carbonated drinks cause me to swell, just a bit. Now is that true?

When i drink it because of the splenda in it i always want something with real sugar. which isnt good !
Only a certain variety of Diet Coke has Splenda in it and lately I haven't seen it on the shelf.
Most Diet Coke uses Aspartame as the sweetener.

I wonder if the same people reported on how many cigarrettes it would take to get lung cancer as the ones who say 18 cans a day in the article noted in post #6. If it can cause cancer it can cause cancer. they have no way of knowing how fast it leaves every persons body or how each individual person will respond to it. If it was so alright for you then why do they constantly change what they put in it?
Original Diet Coke has only gone through 1 formula change, which involved switching from a saccharin/aspartame blend to just aspartame.
However, there have been different variations of Diet Coke released with different formulas, but the different versions have nothing to do with what is in regular Diet Coke. Regular Coca Cola has had many more formula changes made to it than Diet Coke.

Since aspartame came on the market in l981, it has accounted for more than 75 percent of the complaints reported in the FDA's Adverse Reaction Monitoring system. the most common adverse reactions attributed to aspartame are headaches, dizziness, attention difficulties, memory loss, slurred speech and vision problems. this cluster of symptoms has become so common that it is actually referred to as "aspartame disease".

It really does not matter what I think about what you put in your body, please do it with your eyes open and your research done. Do not leave it to the people who are making a profit from your choice to ingest it to tell you if it is good for you.
The caffienne is very dehydrating..so you're body needs even more water now...make sure you're getting your daily intake of water.
A) Never quote a website that claims to be the " CHUPACABRA RESOURCE" and is full of Anti-Semitic articles.
B) Women should closely watch their intake of colas, any colas.

I noticed that if I start drinking Diet Coke that I need to have a Diet Coke everyday! I switched to Diet Dr. Pepper and I don't feel the same intense need (and I love the taste, it really quells that sweet craving). I have also tried Coke One (the one with Splenda) and found that it tasted too much like regular Coke (which I never cared for).
I also noticed that if I start drinking a soda or two a day that I start to get pronounced celulite on my legs, possibly due to the dehydration factor.
Keep up the 8 glasses of water a day and remember for that every caffinated drink you need to increase your daily waters by one glass!!

Thanks MFchill for checking that out.
Yes, girls can lose bone density to cola. But we're need to watch the calcium intake reguardless. We need more of it.
My proplem? The calories. 1 cup reg milk 146 (7.9 g fat). Non fat is still 86. Plain soy slender is still 60.
But I don't like the taste of any of them. The same Newsweek article stated the best idea for vitamins added to cola would be to add calcium, the thing that people were missing most. Funny huh?
I maintain. Bored? Think you need a snack? Pick me up? Reach for the diet. Seriously. Better than water somedays.

I drink diet coke with splenda every now and then. I notice that I
usually drink it in the evenings when I crave something but have
reached my daily calorie-limit. I don't think it's a problem as long as
you don't drink too much. I've never thought about the cellulite-factor
though.. that might actually be true. body-builders dehydrate
themselves before shows so the skin will cling to the muscles and show
them off.. I guess the same goes for cellulite and fat (not a pretty
thought). I guess you just need to make sure you drink enough water.
I drink about a liter of diet dr. pepper a day and my teeth stay white. My only complaint is the bloating that comes along with the carbonation.
