Question about Eat Meter/Burn Meter....
I'm not really good with counting calories. But i know it's a good idea and i'm starting today. My questions is....in the "My Account" screen there are 2 different things Eat Meter which shows Daily Goal 1702 cal and then 700 cal. I totally understand that part what i don't understand is the Burn Meter. It says Total Estimate 3220 Cal and then says 1707 cal.
I worked out for 50 minutes today....30 Aerobic exercise and 20 minutes on the treadmill. So what does that Burn meter info mean? I don't understand the two different #'s.
Can anyone explain this to me? I'm really trying to understand the whole calories in verse calories burned thing.
I am confused about this as well... Hopefully someone can help us!!!
It's pretty simple- the top number is the total estimate of calories you will burn today (based on information you entered in your profile), and the bottom number is the amount you've burned since 12 AM.
In the burn meter, the top numbers show how many calories you burn in a day based off the stats that you plugged into the system. For example, I'm 5ft 6in and 185lbs and list senedtary as my activity level. I burn 1930 calories in a day. Below that, the number is actually tracking how much I've burned that day. For example, mine says 800 something.....thats how much I've burned today just sitting around. I should burn another 1100 or so today just by functioning. I choose to add my exercises in by hand when I do stuff so I can see more closely where I am at.
The eat meter tells you how many calories you need to eat a day to hit your weight loss goal. My top number is 1340. From there, you can log your foods all day to keep track of how many calories you have taken in. Ideally your deficit should be between 500-1000 calories a day in order to lose a healthy 1-2lbs a week.
Good luck!
Ok let me try to explain this. If you look at your burn meter on your account page, you see two figures. The top (small) one says "Total Estimate." This one is the estimated amount of calories you burn in a day based on the information you provided, i.e. age, sex, weight, activity level. This is what you burn just by living if you entered yourself as sedentary. Under that is a larger type number. That is where you are burn-wise at any given time. This number continues to rise over the course of the day, especially if you add in exercise. Supposedly it goes to zero at midnight. I haven't seen it do so, but then I'm not usually on CC at midnight but that's what I've heard. You can use this number to budget your calories. I, for example, love my microwave popcorn (100 cal bag), so I keep track of this number and make sure that I have 100 calories available at the end of the day for my treat. Like I said, if you add in your exercise, this is going to change. My daily estimate is 1630 (as sedentary). On gym days, I've got to add approx 800 to that number and on cardio days, it's usually 500-600 depending on how much I do. The secret is to keep your eat meter somewhere between 500 and 1000 calories less than your burn meter. Hope this helps!
Thank you all so much. That really helps and makes a lot of sense. This will definitely help me move forward
this was super helpful! thanks to hopeful31 for asking, and for the rest of you for answering :) also - while i've plugged all of my info in, it says in my eat meter in the top half that 2200 cals is my goal? but then, upon more investigation, aout 1500 cals should help me lose weight... i don't understand why the top says 2200, when i want to lose weight? not to mention, i never go that high (2200). like, right now (as well as every day) my daily goal is listed as 2200 - but, i've only eaten 857 cals today. why won't the top say 1500 cals?? i'm confused... :/ (although, no longer confused about the burn meter - thanks again!)
